Some of you are being ridiculous about those tail lights saying they are the worst feature of the face-lift and they look like Skyline tail lights. Besides that, I came across a picture of the new paint scheme for the new 2009 models. It's sort of brown, dark gray paint.. At first, I was thinking about getting a white one, but after seeing this new color, I just fell in love with the way it looks.

That's what it said, when I translated the Japanese text.. I thought the guy who took the picture must of been mistaken or something. It doesn't look like a black paint job, but maybe it's just the light and the exposure of the picture. Besides that, the guy at the dealership confirmed it for me, and tried telling me about the new RX-8 face-lift. I had a good laugh because I told him, I already know everything I need to know about the new model, and the RS version.

i got to sit in the 09 today at the ny auto show. while it doesnt look as bad in person it is still not my taste. the one i sat in is a blue rs model i believe. the thing i liked best were the recaro seats, insanely comfortable and they hold you in place beautifully. i am spoiler with an afe ss so i wasnt too crazy about the shifter.

it definitely looks more asian and may not appeal to americans. plus they totally FUKED the headlights and taillights.
I want an RX8 not G35
The fender vents are pretty dumb but this is the best picture out of all of them.
so i might as well buy the new body kit and keep the rest the same.
Other than that picture, if i drove a Z and saw that new facelifted mazda rolling around i'd laugh at it

wow those base rims are fugly lol the gunmetal ones look tyte though. But dont like the car...front bumper is a mess and the tiny vents on the side..couldnt make up thier mind ? unno dont like it..steering wheel looks a bit too busy too.

of course. I think they wanted to make sure that any of us current owners couldn't swap parts (and for the most part) make our cars look really really bad like this new 'spoiled' version lol (tails excepted).

It's growing on me, i used to be a hater like everyone else but if you don't compare it directly to your beautiful car, then it could be a lot worse. Also maybe Mazda made it look so different on the parts we like because.....there not trying to sell them to us, this is only a facelift, most of us aren't ready for a new car i expect, so why try to sell a car to someone who has one and won't by another when they could instead sell to all those who haven't bought yet and may like the new change.

Sounds like I'm in the minority, but I really like the 2009. Well, at least the R3, I don't know that the base model looks better.
I saw one in person at the Detroit auto show and didn't like the blue, but now that color is really growing on me, too (probably doesn't hurt that the pic I'm using for my computer's desktop is of a blue R3. )
However, I never really liked the RX8 in red for some reason, and the 2009 isn't really doing anything to change that.

The 8 has to evolve, it's not bad nor fugly, give it time, still i went to chevy dealer the other day to get things from the company van (Venture
and the service dept mechanics swarmed to the 8, the only thing they could match to it was the Corvette...
