Old comparison, and RX8, S2000, Z dyno

I was looking for a comparison of dyno results of the RX-8 to the S2000 when I found this old comparison. It was one of the better ones. Read it one more time!

It occurred to me that the S2000 and the RX-8 probably have almost identical dyno results, and as it turns out, they really do. Check the dyno results at the end of this article. Good stuff.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that dyno chart is merely made off of the original specs, and is not an actual whp dyno. It's pretty much common knowledge that the S2K has a slight power advantage over the RX8. On average, the S2000 dynos at about 10-15whp, and up to 20whp above the rx8. The RX8 is inconsistent in power gains, so generally the RX8 will always be behind the S2K. Some RX8s put out the hp they are said to put out, but most don't. They are close in power, but after 60mph the S2000 will slowly pull away from an RX8. The 350z will pull even more after 60. More or less, the S2000 is in the middle of both the RX8 and 350z in straight line performance. I for one can noticed the power difference in my 01 S2K when I made the swap. They are close, but the edge goes fo the S2K. The 04+ S2K gained about 5-10 additional whp and torque, making the power difference noticably better.

s2k's dyno close to 200whp. rx8's are 180 average. It's faster than the numbers suggest.

Yup, you have to figure in the weight advantage as well. The cars have similar characteristics, but the s2k is much faster.
