New RX8
My understanding is that the dealers here in the SW have been informed from Mazda about the new RX model.I have confirmed it from one dealer. But I want to talk to another dealer and see what they have heard.
What we heard was from a Mazda NA rep, we actually got to call on speaker and thank a higher up for allowing us to have the opportunity to hear the info. he was sort of vague about the details if you know what I mean.
I'm definitely at that point, and I agree with the previous comments that the rendering looks more like a luxury sports coupe than a sports car. I'll be very disappointed if the new rotary car is not the same size as, or smaller than the current 8.

It will be interesting to see what makes it through as standard equip, or as options. The side "mirrors" being one of them. Be a bit different to look at a monitor for your blind spots, but if they throw a wide angle lens on it, potentially safer than what you've got now.
he said in an interview that emission (i assume Co2 emission) of rotary must improve of 50% (i assume that must be 50% LESS).
rx-8 is rated a 299 g/Co2 for 233 hp
a car wit similar performance must be 150 g/Co2
assuming that new rotary wil be more powerful than actual renesis (example 300 hp) limits must be around 180 g/Co2....
doin this without an light hybrid assist must be very hard
citation: MAZDA has set an ambitious 50 per cent fuel consumption reduction target for its next-generation ‘Sky Rotary’ engine,
i read this as a passage from 299 to 150 g/Co2 (assuming Co2 strictly linkend to fuel compsuntion), maybe i'm wrong because i'm italian...in Italian the meaning is this
The RX8 was unveiled around 2001 and the Modern Marvels episode aired around
March 2002 so that's roughly a 3 year gap between production. If they are that close is it going to be another 3 year window before they are produced is what I'm wondering.

Looks great. I never doubted there'd be an RX-8 successor once Mazda said there would be, and that was years ago. Over that time, I can certainly understand some doubting whether it would happen or not.
What I can't understand is why they insisted on proclaiming the rotary was dead as if it was a slam dunk, foregone conclusion. Morons. It's why I take most stuff I read on forums with a huge grain of salt. Thank god there's still magazines, newspapers and their websites where, to get a story up, journalists have to, by and large, confirm their info from a reliable source. (And no, "my buddy who works for Mazda, says…" is not a reliable source.)

Please keep in mind that Mazda has not, to this point, given confirmation on the engine or car.
I would expect it won't be long before info on the next MX-5 and the RX# is released officially from Mazda (Weeks? Months?
).

Not really. I an making assumptions based on a lot of things including rumors, speculations and hearsay. Some of my rumors revolve around some things and people at Mazda. I have taken the speculation and made more speculation

We did the same thing with BL. It's looking like 2020 then...
its not likely salesman will hear/see anything until the marketing starts hitting, in other words slightly after the average rx8club user hears it
. The dealer Principles will hear about and see the car way before that at NADA or separate discreet gatherings once the final is green lighted.

quote. here in EU they have exposed Minagi (the car premiered at geneva---march) in a meeting of dealers slightly before Christmas 2010, and they have called it (verbally) "cx-5". no cellphones or other stuff allowed.
And i know as soon as the president of my dealership and 11 others hears about it I'd be the first person he tells. I'm a mazda fanboy and he knows it!
Thanks, Zoom.

that the design is complete for the new RX model. (they were shown pics from Mazda) And it will have the DI 16X.
