I like it, but things will change a lot between now and when it actually comes out.

I think it looks to much like a Hundi Genesis. I heard that they were going to be introducing a 2dr coup version of the RX8 in 2014 as the RX9 with the possibility of a 3 rotor renesis or larger disp. 2 rotor (which i heard Mazda was working on with some new technology that was recently invented by an aviation company with increased power and fuel economy). Just what i heard couple months back from some Mazda guys in Japan. I wouldn’t give my 8 up for that rendering, I would buy a 3rd gen RX7 way before I bought something like that.

Edit: I read the artical my bad.

Gorgeous. I just got my latest Zoom-Zoom mag in the mail, and was drooling over the Shinari pics. You can really see the Shinari influence in the above rendering.

Of course, it’s speculative, but I hope they make it, 2-door or 4-door.

looks interesting. It'll be more interesting to see how close it actually comes to what Stealth posted.

The Rx-7's were very close or even faster than the direct competition in a straight line.

As for it looking big... it's a picture on the internet, that doesn't really tell you much
I understand that when the 8 first came out it went toe to toe with a lot of "competition", but my frustration is since then, all other cars have improved drastically in the HP and mpg dept...the 8 has not. The z is the perfect example of a car that has gotten small, but steady improvements over the years and now, I'm sorry to say it trounces the 8 in most comparisons, including the handling dept. I was hoping for an evolution like that with the 8, but I do understand they are severely handicapped with the rotary so hopefully the next one makes this long, agonizing wait worthwhile. All I would ask for personally is more torque and much better mpg. Even 250hp and a couple hundred lbs lighter I think they'd have a hit.

Mazda usually does a 8+ year run w/ a body style during those times you will get a few changes, which are generally a small face lift and a small bump in HP, typically around 10hp. Its nothing new, they have been doing it since the 70's. Look for them to do it again.

That picture sure looks like the Mazda Shinari. But the interior looks different then what was speculated for the Shinari in other pictures. Remember there was 7-8 years between the last year of FD in the states to when the 8 arrived so even if there is a new rotary, how long before we see it here?

The world is not america-centric. The rx7 was in production 'till around 2002, and in 2003 the first rx8s were sold
If a new rotary enters production there will be a 1year gap max imho.

I hope the production version looks similar to the concept. I like it a lot, and was drooling over it in the New Zealand Zoom Zoom mag I was sent last week.

Kind of reminds me of an Aston Marton DB9 from the side.

That front looks rather bulbous, much like current nissan sedans. It looks fussy, not sleek or aggressive...but it's just a pic (hopefully).

I can get my arm in there and twist it off by hand every time. I put a sheet of sandpaper in my hand and no problem. It may not be perfectly placed but I've seen much worse.

If I knew it would look just like that, I'd put my deposit down today.

Who said it's only a rendering?

after looking at that photo for a couple of mins....now i understand why they designed the Series II front clips the way they did.

If the new one ends up being close to the one shown, wow, that is one aggressive looking front

I mean, I like it but it's certainly radical

I heard last Saturday from one of my sources, that the design is complete for the new RX model. (they were shown pics from Mazda) And it will have the DI 16X.
I did see some pics of a Hydrogen powered Mazda2.

It's funny reading this thread after hearing the Mazda rep speak about the next RX at the Texas8. I guess we will all have to wait and see what is bullshit and what is real.
