Mazdaspeed 8 anounced for NZ- 320HP!

Motoring section in todays NZ Herald :

Mazda NZ head Ivan Ackeroff anounced today that Mazdas' long awaited upgrade to the RX8 will debut in New Zealand . It will be called the Mazdaspeed RX8 .
Specifications for the car are sure to get the local rotary community buzzing. Not since the Batmobile has Mazda produced a rotary with credentials sure to strike fear in the ranks of the STI/EVO communities.
The supercharged renesiss engine will produce a massive 240kw (320 hp) which Mazda says will take the car to the speed limit in 5.4s
Mr Ackeroff said the car will not be sold outside of New Zealand for at least 18 months & not into North America for another 2 years due to recent bad publicity surrounding an engine recall for the naturally aspirated Renesiss .
Aparently there has been so much whinging on a certain forum dedicated to the RX8 in the US that Mazda feels the car will be better recieved in New Zealand .

supposedly mazda is going to make an announcement of a new MS car next week according to the SS thread. I guess we'll see what they will say.

If i recall correctly they said they'd announce it at the LA auto show this sat. Then again it was hot at SS so I might b wrong ^^;

for the cost and the wait, people are probably better off just going with some of the new FI kits that were shown at SS9..

I personally cant wait to afford the Mazsport type 3.

i dont know.... we dont complain that much to make mazda deprive us of the MS8. i think this is a rediculous post. Mazda knows 8 owners want more power than anything else, do you really think they would say no to us? no, it doesnt make business sense. Hey look a HIGH DEMAND for this car.... lets just lead them along for 2 years, loose money, **** them off, and have our stock go through the floor. i dont think so. (i hope i dont eat my words if mazda actually anounces somthing next week) oh well i still dont beleive it.
