well it kind of is...a really really really light RX-8 :D

 

^ Paint work? Yes. It's a shell and hollow tube chassis (i think). As for the engine, well it is a rotary but that's about as close as our renesis could get. I think someone mentioned here that it is using a 20B(?) Regardless, it's not renesis. Some day, we will be able to boast that it is one of our RX-8s.

 

who cares, it's still a remarkable accomplishment regardless of semantics, and it is an Rx8 shell, so in drag racing circles it is known as an RX8. Same as some of these guys running funny cars and the like with Mustang bodies on them, they're still calling them mustangs, it would sound a bit crappy to hear the race announcer say "John Force just ran a 4 sec 1/4 in his tube framed, blown v8 w/ n2o with a mustang body blah blah blah......." as opposed to just saying he made a 4 second pass in a Mustang.

its a 20b? thats a LOT of power for a 20b, what kind of porting, supercharger or turbo charger and nos system is on that thing?

 

I'm pretty sure it's a large peripheral port. The turbo is gigantic. It could probably double as a wood chipper.

 

20B special turbo street-port on methanol, GT-55 custom turbo set-up, running +35lbs of boost.

I ran away from it in Cali last year. When they started it up I thought Al Qaeda was attacking or something. Ferociously loud!
