The front and rear end of that Furai is a statement which says... "Don't f$@* with me..."! Very nice indeed....
|
More Furai hotness...

Of course while a picture may be worth a thousand words, it is usually only half the story. :squint:

Oh, thats a 3 rotor in the RX-8? I don't understand why they do that |
Just scope out the Speed Source website.

LOL, I wasn't going to say it but yeah... that's what I was thinking... Yeah All of the Mazda RX-8s competing in the ROLEX GT Series are fitted with a 3 rotor Mazda R20B engine... I'm not sure if they are running ST cars this year... but if so, those should have 2 rotor Renesis motors.
|
the way I understand it is it's more of a backwards engineered 20b Cosmo engine. Basically they started with the old 20B design and engineered many aspects specifically in the area of rotor design into the engine.

The Furai made MSN auto's top 10 list for concepts at the Detroit show...
http://autoshow.autos.msn.com/autosh...mentid=6015212 a soundbite taken from the article-- "In terms of sheer show presence, Mazda’s Furai race car concept wins hands down. We can say, hand on heart, that this was the most radical-looking car in Detroit. When the covers were removed, Mazda Design Director Franz von Holzhausen fired it up and gave the throttle a few blips. The crisp crackle from the ethanol-powered 450-horsepower rotary engine was exhilarating and totally in keeping with Furai’s bold, sweeping lines and its name, which means “sound of the wind.” . . . " |
Oh man, I can just imagine what that would have sounded like indoors.
|
flat black is the best color!
even its 2.0l but im sure the 5.7 is ported too |

R20B is the Renesis based 20B, correct? Custom built from 3 Renesis rotor housings? I need to frequent the 8 forums more often, I spend 99% of my time on the 7 forums.

Yes, Im pretty sure the R20B is the Renesis 3 rotor, but I thought it was only in the Furai.
What's special about the Furai version is that Racing Beat and Motec worked to tune the motor to run on E100 specifically. |
