correction hot air from the engine bay leaves thru a hole ion the fender behind the vent covers. look from inside your engine bay and you can see the light thru the hole. when moving the air flow over the car creates a low pressure area just over the vents which pulls heated air out of the engine compartment. but they could stand to be a few more square inches in cross section

edit- well see i should just finish reading before posting. spin and shaun already said everything

Maybe they can modify the rotary indent in the rear part of the hood to vent more hot air or take in more cool air. Probably something closer to the radiator though due to clearance issues. Ducting will not weigh much if done right. Maxda can remove any other useless peice of plastic except the ducting to clean things up...I don know. I won't pretend to know the engineering of it...I prob understand about 60%+ but it is not rocket science.

Geek example:

Dell computers are a very good example. If you ever open up a Dell server or desktop you will notice plastic ducting that manage the air flow throughout the chasis for more efficient cooling. It literally has passage ways for air to circulate. This not only proves to cool the machine better but it ensures reliability.

All Mazda has to do is "invest" on a good cooling scheme for the 8 using some duct work and it will pay off with less warantee work in the long run. Not to mention very happy Rx's!

I stand corrected... BUT...i believe you said the same above...How efficient are little holes in moving air out of the engine bay?

Air circulation management!

I guess the 'cat's out of the bag' so to speak and she's a sexy cat I must say. Are these photos a leak or has Mazda shown official pics already?

i love the nose, just not the emblem, they should place it on the hood.

This makes the GTR look dated.

that rear wheelwell/fender is a direct rip from the Taiki concept, and it looks great!

Yeah, I love the 55, it shows that there are people in MNAO that love the rotary, and realises its importance.
