Its basically exactly the same game as Sega GT with a couple more good tracks and a few more cars, most of which you still can't get without winning online races. Its only $20 new and I definately got my moneys worth out of it. After spending about 100 hours with Sega GT I put about 25 into online. The graphics are pretty much unchanged but I swear the control was tweaked somehow, for the better. Since I got Toca 2 I haven't been able to play any other racing games.

 

I think the PS2 is a cheaply manufactured piece of crap because mine broke down for no reason. However, PS2 has the largest library and its games are often cheaper than on other systems because there is much more competition between titles. My favorite system is the XBOX and it has some great racing games like Project Gotham 2, Toca 2, Colin MCrae, and rallisport challenge. However for a driving SIMULATOR absolutely nothing can beat gran turismo 3 and the upcoming 4. If you are only going to play driving games I would reccomend that you get a PS2 with a nice steering wheel and a copy of Gran Turismo 4 when it comes out later this year and you'll have yourself a good old time.

Get one of these two wheels from logitech
- the PC Formula Force GP for $60 to $70. Works great with GT3. I assume it works with GT4/prologue, but I don't have first hand experience. I use this wheel now and have completed 100% of the GT3 with that and the OLD RED momo wheel)
- or the PS2 Logitech Driving Force Pro ($150) I have not hooked mine up yet. I may save it for GT4 since it optimized for it. It has over 360 degrees rotatation & has a stick shift. I assume it is built more rugged but time will tell. I got mine and bought the warrenty for ~$15. I normally would never get a warrenty but if you do a lot driving like me (+20,000 miles) you will wear them out.

Don't get the new MOMO wheel (black). Most other wheels either do not work or work poorly. I had a wheel made for the playstation by logitech (it is blue) that would not let you shift when the wheel was turned and did not brake at 100%.

I agree it is the best driving SIMULATOR. Here one reason why.

I have completed all of the game with the exception of a few golds on the Rally license. I have no racing experience in real life, but I just went to mazdarevitup & got 2nd() in the bottom division(Atlanta) and place in the top 3% overall(Nationally). I am sure I could have knocked at least another second of my lap if I Knew the track.(You only get 2 tries).

Lately I have been driving the RX-8 prototype exclusivly and can't wait to get my hands on GT4.

 

I had a chance to play the game this year at the E3 gaming expo. Great graphics and as always great cars.

There was a funny scene at one of the Sony Sponsored rooms where they had nothing but GT4 with racing seats the works. A guy who had the rx8 in real life raced someone who had a honda in real life. Kind of funny. Results = Honda got spanked!

 

I thought that logitech GT4 wheel had over 600 degrees of movement... plus I saw some for $135 at Bestbuy with a mail in rebate. But they all sold out.

Thats the unit ... I have been playing GT3 with it. Just completed all gold licenses with it. It has over 600 degrees, but I have been using 180 degrees for GT3. It is specially designed for GT4.

 

the RX-8 can be found in GT3 also. It's not as accurate since it was in testing at the time but it's there. I have one, it has like 400horsepower or so. They also have a RX-8 in Prohect Gotham Racing 2 for the Xbox. And the car in it is very detailed, right down to being able to see the two-tone interior and the rotary shaped seats....Sorry if someone already mentioned this, i'm too lazy to read through all the posts.
