Grand Turismo4 RX8 pics

This game is really looking good, especially with our 8 as one of the featured cars.

Thats some cool pictures of the RX-8 in GT-4. The car looks freakin sick in the game!!! I'm planning to buy the PS2 just for this one game alone, along with a great force feedback wheel. I usually just play PC games. When is the game coming out again?

RX-Hachi 05-15-2004 07:16 PM

I have Gran Turismo 4 "Prologue", which is a special GT4 preview game that was released only in Japan. The RX-8 looks terrific, the whole game looks terrific, but it's quite similar to GT3 in game play. They did a good job of duplicating the RX-8's exhaust sounds as well.

I posted this in the NSFU2 thread, a recap of RX-8 games:

Gran Turismo 3 - Early prototype version of the RX-8, very fast and great handling when modded in the game.

AutoModellista - Funky cartoon style game with a focus on drifting, but kind of squirely driving dynamics.

Project Gotham Racing 2 - Nicely rendered RX-8, great driving dynamics. (I think PGR 1 had a prototype 8 in it too.)

Sega GT On-line - Another nicely done RX-8, but the game isn't very different from Sega GT 2002.

Tokyo Extreme Racer 3 - (Nobody has mentioned this one yet). I love this game! You can add both the Mazdaspeed body kit and/or the Mazda factory front, side, and rear spoiler options to mod your stock 8.

Gran Turismo 4 "Prologue" - The best presentation of the RX-8 yet. While the game seems to play like GT3 with the controller, the driving simulation is much improved with the steering wheel over GT3. (This game is only out in Japan, but I have a Japanese playstation 2)

Initial D Arcade Stage ver. 3 - A very fun Arcade game for you Initial D Anime fans. The RX-8 was added to the latest version of the Arcade game. Tried the SE3P a few times on Mt. Akagi. (I have the PS2 version of this game too "Initial D Special Stage", but alas it's based v2 of the Arcade, so no RX-8.)

so jonesing for this game.....sigh.....I too have a copy of Tokyo Extreme Racer, it was only 17.99 at Bestbuy so I figured "Why not?" then I found the 8 in it! fun game for the price but I'm totally stoked on GT4, I hope the music is good in it, I liked alot of the tunes in GT3

car looks cool, though I would like to see shots that arent part of a replay.

I am a complete newb with PS2/Xbox...but now i wanna get PS2 just for this GT-4.

Request all you gaming guru's ---> please advise whats the best steering wheel to play such games on PS2?

Which one's better? Xbox or PS2?

Thanks,
NewB :)

Hercules 06-08-2004 10:45 AM

Xbox has better graphics but PS2 has better games. Ultimately you play games, not graphics, so I went with the PS2.

Deslock 06-08-2004 04:44 PM

I don't have a gaming console, but I'm gonna buy a PS2 just for GT4. The Xbox driving games look prettier (I wish the PS2 used more antialiasing), but as far as I know, none of them are as realistic as GT3.

I'm currently planning to get the Logitech Driving Force Pro for Play Station 2 (963293-0403):

so whens the release date?

canaryrx8 06-09-2004 04:05 PM

they keep pushing it back, but it's a pretty good bet it will be right around Christmas, last I heard it was due in November some time

takahashi 06-09-2004 06:14 PM

I am playing the prologue and it feels so real.

It is so real that I am getting 1"8' in Tsukuba in a normal road tyre --- 2 seconds faster than any of the Best Motoring Man!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D

Maximus 06-10-2004 06:31 PM

Are you guys saying that "Grand Turismo4" has not been released yet???

Are these two different?
- great force feedback wheel
- Logitech Driving Force Pro

What features are most important in selecting a driving wheel for PS2?

Thanks,
NewB :(

Maximus 06-10-2004 06:37 PM

Is this any good?

Better games is really a matter of opinion. PS2 has actually *more* games. But if you are interested in the best games in either console, they are really a close match. In my case, I'd die if I couldn't play Halo (anxiously waiting Halo2), Project Gothan2 and, furthermore, if I couldn't play Xbox Live!!! It's such a blast competing against guys all over the world! (it kind of feels like this forum sometimes, but real-time! While driving in Project Gothan races people talk about the most different subjects! It feels like you are driving with the guys by your side!).
And as time goes buy, the number of games for Xbox is closing the gap to PS2, so you are left with the quality of the consoles itself...

I'd go for Xbox, hands down!

The Overman 06-10-2004 06:51 PM

BTW, Sega has released *exclusively* for the Xbox Live the Sega GT online. And guess which car is the frontpage image for the game?!
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/segagtonli...tencounter.htm
It could be black, than it would be perfect! ;)

KC_Prelude 06-10-2004 07:28 PM

I bought that game just because it had the 8 in it and on the cover.

And how's that?
I was going to buy it! I have the original SegaGT and had lots of fun customizing and racing the cars. Can you do the same in the Sega Online?

Deslock 06-11-2004 06:28 AM

I was into FPSs back in the days of Duke Nukem and Quake (I played a mean deathmatch back then) but I haven't fired up any games in a couple years. Too busy. Without getting into console-holy-wars, which is the better choice for someone who (1) has just a few hours/week to play and (2) is *only* interested in playing a driving simulator? (I don't care about any other games)

The reviews indicate Sega GT is a lot of fun, but is inferior to Gran Turismo as far as driving dynamics go.

Also, I was under the impression that Xbox live required a subscription while you could use the PS2 online for free once you get the network adapter (which is now included with the PS2 at some stores). Is that correct? I don't think I'll play enough to justify paying a monthly fee for an online service.

Thanks!

canaryrx8 06-11-2004 09:56 AM

I don't think there is a driving game out there that matches the physics and sounds of the Gran Turismo series and I've played a bunch across all consoles (including the PC), even the older ones were way ahead of their time, still like the other games out there but I always go running back to GT when I'm through with the rest. speaking of gaming, anyone here ever play Re-Volt?

RX-Hachi 06-11-2004 01:06 PM

I just found another game with the RX-8. Kaido Battle 2 Chain Reaction.

Very nice graphics and a fun mountain drifter style game. It's not out in the US yet, so I bought the Japanese version. But I haven't been able to unlock the RX-8 yet.
