Inside: Positve

The inside, looks alot better. Some minor upgrades but it all adds up and makes the interior alot nicer.

Engine compartment: Negative

They did nothing in there! The all difference is the strut bar, Why didnt they relocate the battery? The RX-8 is about handling, so why leave the heavy battery in that location! It should be against the firewall. The intake still looks be the same big clunky box as it was. And once again they covered everything up with plastic.

Present Mazdaspeed front looks better. I think my present Mazdaspeed kit looks more impressive.

I agree the new front is not as "smooth" and the lines don't flow like before.

Would have been smarter to incorporate a Mazdaspeed type CAI or something like the Odula CAI.

Unless there is a Horsepower upgrade and/new engine, I'm not impressed.

The could have left everything the same or made the present Mazdaspeed kit standard and give us 275HP to 300HP, and I would be happier with the result.

The Mazdaspeed variation, at least looks a little better. But I still like the orginal Mazdaspeed front better.

The plastic madness on the new kit is what the killer is.

I would only buy the Mazdaspeed variation, if buying new. Hell, even for the old one...

Wow, has it been 12 years since that concept already! Still looks great though, just imagine that little thing with the Renny in it. The 16x in there would just be nuts

what is that crappy looking plastic thing at the front? should have made it grill, and same number plate holder config of the superseeded* model. rear lights look nice though, same with seats, but def not the steering wheel.

I could be wrong, but don't they sell these for '08 40th Anniversary models already?

Oh yeah, you're right. This was the first concept before the evlove. All in all still a decent little idea.

I'll bet it would be a blast to drive. What do you think it weighs?

Reminds me of an Audi R8, except with the headlights raised. I like the bigger "mouth", but the side bits look like a big of overdone bodykit. I like the upwards curve on the rear "bumper" and the paint going lower. I like the sideskirts, but they look like they could be put straight on a 2004-2008.

I haven't gotten my -8 yet (I pick it up tomorrow), so what do people like about the seats? More lateral support?

Old front was much nicer, particularly the headlights and the air intakes. I don't like this car with any bodykit I've ever seen, it just looks better as a clean, sleek shape. New dash seems nice but so did the old one.

Well, much has been said about the new car. Some people like it, some don't, some love it, some despise it.
I personally like the original better. Either with the MS kit of the appearance package.
The new one looks like ugly betty after a make over gone bad while the original looks like Jesica Alba..

Any word yet from Mazda on the '09 color choices? Any chance that the Shinka will be making a return?

The only thing that's better on the new exterior are the taillights - but by not much. It looks like even those were done with as much cost-cutting as possible since the turn signals and reverse lights are still regular filament bulbs (unless I'm mistaken). I mean, why turn only the parking/brake lights into LED and leave the rest alone? Also, to have LED main brake lights but still keep the conventional third brake light is retarded.
Every other change to the exterior is worse than the original... as it was put by someone in another thread, the car sort of became a caricature of itself.
The interior updates are okay, except for the hideous steering wheel. That kills it for me.

No it doesn't... Being a N/A 13B doesn't mean it's a Renesis/13B-MSP.

They do resemble the 40th Anniversary rims. That pic I took just happened to be the wheels Mazda sent along with the 2009 model that just left here yesterday.
Keep an eye out Jedi, I think it's heading your way. Suppose to be going back to Japan. More than likely for dissection.

That's right too i guess, since it was called the MSP-RE but it was not a Renesis (although very simular in design).
