Same Car

Nothing but a new front, skirts, & vents moved! Who will be dumb enough to trade up for that???

And notes on the engine specs, or just more of the same there? Nice seats, but I can buy any seats I want....

No thanks.

What exactly is this car? I dont have the time to sift through 25 pages worth of opinions.

Is this a mazdaspeed 8 or is it the 09 rx8?

I know one other person asked here but were there any revisions made to the motor? Screw more horsepower, how about more torque?

The Mazdaspeed could be concept only, I don't see that going on sale in NA.

I finally worked out why I liked the mazdaspeed concept better than the new facelifted eight, It's not the steering wheel or interior changes but the fact the overall car still looks like the original car in profile, less busy overall and cleaner.
I will still be waiting for the RX7 when it arrives (family now grown so who cares about the back seats anyway)

Hmmm... I think the original 8 styling looks more unified. The original designers must have been busy with something more important.

The new headlight breaks the line of the wheel arch.

But I will hold my judgment until I see one in person. The new MS looks better that the others (as has been noted). I hope they actually sell a MS ready to off the showroom floor.

I might be way ahead of myself here, but looking at the gearshift ****, it looks like the Reverse is on the opposite side of the shift pattern. Even in a RHD car, the 'R' would sill be the very left, no? Could this hint at a new transmission, and possibly a new engine?

indeed. gay nudity needs to end for rx8club. in other news, mazda loses the faith of some of their most fierce supporters with a shocking display of clashing design elements. i really dont like it at all. so when god forbid my 8 ***** out and i dont have the resources to rebuild my engine, they better have a 7 or 9 out.

I personally fell in love with the 8 when i saw the fender vents, i am not impressed with the new ones at all, im a straker and i think they looked good.

oh and anyone else think the facelift 8's new vents look like the new ford focuses fender vents?

..but to each there own, i just hope they sell a **** load and spread the rotary love!

I agree, I'm almost certain that Mazdaspeed Concept will not come to NA.

Mazda has shown Mazdaspeed Concepts of the RX-8 for the last 3 years at the Tokyo Auto Salon. Each one sported a different body kit. None of them made their way outside of Japan.

At this year's show there's a Mazdaspeed concept vehicle for just about every car in Mazda's line up.

My opinion...the old 8 is better looking for its

headlights
taillights
fenders
meter cluster
head unit console
even the old lcd screen is better positioned and its consealable

and additionally the old MS 8 is better looking for
the bodykits and bumpers

the only thing the new 8 is better at is the recaros.

so in conclution the ultimate 8 to have is the old MS 8 with a set of recaros!

ya it looks like reverse is underneath first gear now, instead of underneath 6th gear like ours

I knew I'd seen those little lights above the exhaust before. Perfect example of Mazda corporate parts bin homogenization amongst all their cars. Turn them upside down and volia, use them on the RX-8. I don't understand why they're there in the first place, just adds to the clutter IMO.

While they fit ok integrated into the Mazda5 bumper, on the new 8 they looked tacked on and obvious.
