they don't listen to us RG. That's IT, I'm going to the 7 forum and telling them THEY NEED more HP to be competitive.

I love how the rx7's say the same thing about us though =( too many rx7 heads around here criticize me for having an 8. Oh well, i love my 8 and i'm never gonna get rid of it. But hey, i love the rotary community regardless!

It's not working for me...
  • Don't like the new front end, it's way too busy. Maybe if they removed all those black plastic pieces they added.
  • Don't like the new air vents on the side... it's really tacky. I prefer our dull-but-efficient-looking old ones.
  • The new lights are okay, but was it worth the trouble?
  • Does anyone seriously prefer those ugly *** seats to the stock leather ones? Seriously? Remove the recaro stiching and take a second look.

But I dig:
  • The new fog lights.
  • The lil' red markers on the rear bumper
  • The wheels.
  • The new center gauge treatment.
  • New dipstick

We should have a poll !

I think I'm with you, Mendossa. Not a big fan of most of the changes. I do like the wheels a lot though. Other than that...I'm glad I have the older style.

Italic font typeface on the old tachometer and other gauge faces was MUCH nicer. Italics give the fonts a sense of motion. Standard font is a step backwards and boring. There was really NO NEED to change it.

The rear design elements look something like this:

Anyone else notice how the new emblem is inset, but on the new mazdaspeed bumper emblem actually sticks out from the bumper a tiny bit?

Odd...

i was awestruck by the interior, especially the seats and the redline, but talk a look out our interior ... ours still looks better overall i think...ESPECIALLY the steering wheel

The interior design element that sticks out the most to me is the piano black in the center console. It's flush with the side towards the top, then dips in when it gets down towards the climate controls and ashtray. Seems awkward to me, sloppy design.

What's odd about it is that it's become a mishmash of random colors and elements. It doesn't flow well.

the interior now has red stitching, piano black parts, silver colored plastic parts, three different shades of gray, and lighter black panels too. The old interior was much more uniform and looked like it was designed that way. The new one really looks like a parts bin.

I still wish I had the red/black leather instead of black/black.

Yah, thats the ford influence right there. Why design something new when they can take a bunch of crap they already made for other cars and throw it together in some new ugly design to save money.

come on now. the nitpicks of the interior is a bit overboard. Apart from the generic Mazda standard issue steering wheel, the interior is nice.

i liked it too- when seen from the side it was exactly in line with the hood. that line was drawn from the hood thru the cut line and across the top of the fender vent.

I think calling it nice is going overboard. The interior can be best described as "adequate"

My guess if this is what happens when you give people that didn't design the car in the 1st place the job of making it somehow 'better'. Instead they turn it into some patchwork quilt of fixes that end up worse and worse - IOW design by committee - a little of this - a little of that..
