Here's my favorite part:

"So what's left to wonder? We've mentioned the engine's possible question marks, which only long-term testing will answer. We also worry about the Wankel's fuel economy, at least at this early stage where we've determined the car's smallish, 15.9-gallon fuel tank isn't up to the powerplant's prodigious thirst. Our fuel numbers have hit as low as 13 mpg, which is a surprise for a 3000-pound sports car that comes with federal fuel economy estimates of 18 city, 24 highway."

I guess I shouldn't feel so bad getting 14 mpg with my auto...

The article says "it's a sports car first and foremost and we'll evaluate it from that perspective in the coming year." Why are they saying it has a " tight trunk"? Lets see the new Z that they loved doesn't have a trunk or back seat, has less room in the hatch back than my 88 RX-7, has a subpar interior, and a supension that destroys tires.
The 8 has a usable back seat, a truck, better handling than the Z, and a quality interior. The 8 may be considered an inexpensive exotic. It's not a 911 nor is it as expensive, for the money try to find a better combination.
Can't wait for a new RX-7.
