MAZDA RX-8:ROTARY REFINED
Pebble Beach, Calif.-- "Fast, fun, and cool," is how Mazda executives are positioning the new RX-8 sports car, on sale in mid-June. Two versions of the four-door coupe, each powered by rotary engines, will be available--a 210-hp motor with a four-speed automatic transmission ($25,180) and a 250-hp, six-speed manual ($26,680). Mazda expects to sell 18,000 in 2003 and 30,000 next year. Target Buyer: Age, early 30s; mostly single males; college grads; income $70,000.
