I'm not surprised they used the GT30. They wanted it to spin up fast so it gets boost early in the power band.

I wonder how much later the 35 would spin up.. Either way, this is really good news.. i must prepare my car for this mod, lol.. The flywheel, clutch and possibly the gearbox have to go.

I don't think there is much of a difference between the GT30R and GT35R, except the GT35R uses a different exhaust flange.

I can't really say how much later it will take for the GT35R to spool; I need parameters like engine speed, flow rate, pressure, temperature, etc. All I can truly say is a GT35R is a big turbocharger. There are many ways to improve on spooling time, such as different materials for the impeller. I'm sure there are some things you can do to the engine to improve spool. My guess is to create a constant exhaust velocity. Correct sizing and shaping of the turbine header is also important. Too large a cross-sectional area leads to a slower velocity. The turbine needs velocity to create shaft energy.

Bigger turbocharger, not BIG.
A HKS T51R SPL is a BIG turbo charger.

Why stop at a GT35R if 380hp is not enough for you?

What do you think of that? Diffent sized tyre front and rear. :o

I think Mazda will bring the car to RX-8 drive day... that was the hint for the next drive day.

Well, HKS' T51-series turbochargers dwarf my GT35R, but I know my limits. I've also considered a T78 33D, but I don't have enough specs to make a decision. In the meantime, my time and my pesos are being spent on a GT35R, 1.06 A/R turbocharger. 380+ rwhp is my personal target, and I know I can achieve this number.

The exhaust tips have an angled or slanted cut. Due to the cut of the tips they look as if they are pointing down.

The turbo is a very good heatsink. It absorbs alot of heat. Under normal driving conditions the exhaust is cooler. This is why some manufacturers such as Subaru install a cat before the turbo. It takes too long to heat up after it.

I think it would've been cooler, and louder, if they used a center-exit exhaust system like Ab-Flug's FD.

i have the same tire set-up on my car as they do on this 8 and for grip.....its the ****. for drift.... its not great.

just wondering.....why do yall care if it takes .5 or 1 sec more to spool up? we get to sit in each gear longer than most other cars anyway. someone needs to just quit playing and put a frankenstine on an 8 so we can all see what 30psi will do:D

i had plenty of lag in bothe my talon and stelth but at full boost you forget all about it. and when your racing someone ......they think they have you off the line....he he he say hello to my little friend 2nd gear:D

It's a one-off deal but minus the turbo stuff it seems to be a stock Renesis with only a different exhaust and reprogrammed box (??!!). 362HP? In a 2000 lb car? That would be some devistating acceleration. Bring it!

Then what? Are you going to build your own? Are you going to sell the car?

I'd personally build my own regardless of how many are on the market. It's cheaper that way. I've done it before.
