2010's on Mazda site
I know it's extremely frustrating for rotary enthusiasts right now. Nobody knows what the future of the rotary holds because Mazda is so tight-lipped on everything. If no concrete information comes from the auto shows later this year, I know Ill be leaving the brand (at least for my next vehicle purchase). I'm pretty much waiting on Mazda right now. The next move is theirs.
I think they should have just dropped the 8 after the '09. It's almost as if they want the rotary powered car in the lineup just for the sake of saying they still produce a rotary powered car. That doesn't mean much when sales are as dismal as they are anyway.

Look, given the current economic climate and fuel prices, we should just be grateful that Mazda had bothered to give the 8 a proper refresh and put it on the market a few more years, knowing that sales were going to be sluggish. Most other car companies would have discontinued this sort of model years ago. If this doesn't show faith in rotary cars, then what does?
I am expecting the launch of the new "RX" in 2011, or if conditions are not right, there could be a "gap" year and we see the new one in 2012. Either way, I'm just thankful that Mazda hasnt given up on the rotary engine.

Series II is schedules for 4 years of production, so 2012 or 2013 looks like the complete change if we are lucky....
So, as the RX-8 Book says, this car and platform is here for a 10 year production cycle.

4k rebate going on right now. If you want a white r3, buy one from Canada.
There are smoking deals on the 09, I got mine with a 4k rebate and invoice. Glad I got the 09 gt with crystal white paint as its not offered on the 10.

I noticed the 4k rebate too...and it's only September. Geez. Wonder how high it will go? As I recall last year, the '08s didnt get a 4k rebate till close to the end of the year. I'm sorry to say, but dealers will practically have to give these away to get rid of them. That's why Im confident there will be an R3 for me if I still want one come December or Jan...and for a sweet price.
doing a quick, half-assed look, i've only found sport trims with the rebate. i guess i'll have to call around, and then get my *** in gear so i can take advantage of this. (unless that four turns to eight by year's end. hm...)

I really wonder how high it will go? If it got to 8, figure that plus invoice pricing and you're looking at an r3 for 22-23k. Thats insane. Of course you drive it off the lot and its sudenly worth 13-14k. I might end up doing it. I drive my current 8 all year so I have no problem buying one in winter.
The only other car I am considering right now is the Challenger and due to the very short production run due to the bankruptcy, dealers are being ****** on the price becasue the availability is kinda limited. Ill probably end up passing because its overpriced anyway.
