I called Mazda today trying to find out if the R3 will be offered in any additional colors in 2010. I get the guy on the phone and ask and his response was, "R3?! What's an R3?!?!" like I'm some kind of idiot.

What a waste of a phone call...

Doesn't surprise me. I went to North Park last year to inquire about the R3 and none of the sales people knew what I was talking about.

Ehh, I am not suprised. You named one trim level of one car out of 11 cars in their line up.

Its not neccisarily the salesmans job to know everything about every car, but more so to find the right answer to the questions he does not know the answer to.

 

well the salesmens get trained for every new car that comes out so yeah they should no from bumper to bumper, but 99% of the time If your going to the dealer to get a rx8 you better do your homework first

 

The salesmen get a basic overview of the key points of each vehicle. They are by no means required to commit every detail of every trim package of every vehicle to memory... That would be quite a feat to accomplish.

Furthermore, while all of us, well probably most all of us, on this forum know what the R3 trim is, the salesman may not make the connection right off hand. That is kind of like calling and asking questions and only giving them "Grand Touring" to go off of... They dont know which model you are reffering to.

 

so your telling me their is a mazda 3 or 6 R3, i think only one car has the R3 package to it

 

Don't be so surprised. Likely, you asked a general callcenter personnel in India, that companies from Microsoft to large banks outsource their customer support to, about a rotary engine.

They look at their flowchart:

1. Is the power plugged in.

no

There is no R3. You might as well have asked them how to port your engine.

 

Not really surprised, I've asked at my dealer a bunch of times for the r3 and it turns out being a regular rx8

Reading obviously escapes you... I clearly said that most of the people on the forum know what the R3 is, and that it might not have immediatly clicked with the salesman.

Read and understand before responding in the future.
