I know where the Evo is going 2 years in advance. Same with the Supra. I even know what VW is going to be doing in the coupe world in 2 years. I have no idea what Mazda will have in terms of rotary power in the coming years.

And to think some of us have been waiting since 05. We're now half way into 06 w/o the changes we hoped for, a lacking inventory and it appears the same outlook for 07. I don't even wanna think about 08/09 because it'll always be wait for 2010, 2011. How much longer do we have to wait?!
By the time Mazda has answered us, the sports cars of this decade will have already progressed and evolved into a better generation and the floodgates will open up with the release of new model sportcar platforms too (EVO X, STi hatch, Toyota's, GT-R, BMW, VW, 400z(?), etc.) How will Mazda answer to that? Do they like to be one step behind??
I'm tired of waiting...

With the horsepower wars that are going on I think companies are going to have to get serious about adding some oompf to their "sporty" cars.
I don't want to wait either, but I'm thinking that's the best idea for now -- at least for me.

^we can say it's 50HP broken, lol.
Honestly, I have all the power I need...but this is not a "need" thing, this is a "want" thing.
Because as stated, we care about the car overall…about the RX, about it progressing instead of disapearing for half a decade again. It’s not that I would trade my 8 for a new one and put myself in the whole, it’s when I pay off my 8 maybe I’ll go and buy another RX8 and give Mazda a sale. There are a lot of reasons to care and not care, as a fan of the car I want it to progress.
Duhhhhhh, I’m talking about the RX8 you know. This is a 2007 RX8 thread right, who said anything about not taking care of the overall business?
Well, some are I bet but most do revisions. Now, I have no data to back that up so I wont argue about it. I think the continual color changes are WEAK!!!!!!!
My rant about the radio is my biggest complaint about the RX8, and honestly for the future it will be something I will consider in the next purchase.
I love my 8, but as an honest fan I wont sit here and tell you everything is perfect and nothing needs to be tweaked, upgraded, etc etc.

Why should current owners really care what happens with the new models?
the 6 the 3 the MPV the Tribute. the miata the 3rd gen 7........
the TL which is selling like nuts hasn't change a damn thing in 4 years.

How is the Kabura going to be an answer to anything? It's probably gonna get that Mazda four banger, be rated around 200 hp, considered slow, and Mazda will say horsepower isn't an issue because handling is what they're all about.

Ya know - that's the single most annoying line I hear from Mazda. FAR TOO Many of the rx8's competitors have BOTH. With mazda, it's one or the other.
I swear, if the rx8 didnt LOOK so good I'd have a hard time keeping it - for just a LITTLE bit more I could find a b6 S4, C5, Boxter S...etc...or whatever.

IMO
The main reason that we have not seen a factory Turbo-ed RX-8 is because of exhaust emissions, having said this before in other threads many months ago, and I believe that the issue is still the same...emissions.
Then you have engine reliability, extra cost, fuel consumption.etc.
All this when oil prices are at record levels and will continue to be so, IMO gone are the days of cheap gas.
Mazda have gone about as far as they can for their 100% petroleum rotary engine.
As we know the rotary works with a hydrogen hybrid combo, which appears to be the rotaries future thats if you are prepared to lose about 50% of engine HP, and only achieve about 60 miles (kilometres) per tank of hydrogen.
The RX-8 is still the same unique sports car when it debut 4 years ago.
