2006 Car & Driver 10 Best List

Again, the RX-8 makes the 10 best along with the MX-5 from Mazda. C&D also says that more power is coming to the automatic version for 2006. This is in the January C&D.

Well done Mazda!

Thumbs up

I hope this isn't bs.

I would have never guessed it. Not many cars make it back to back let alone 3 years in a row. The 3 series is on there often and the S2k 3 out of 4 years I believe. Not bad. Good job Mazda.

Cripes, don't post a thread like this without telling us what all 10 were. Make with the full list already.

I enjoy driving the RX8 even more today than when I got it, but this was unexpected given that the RX8/RENESIS' hype is long gone.

wow, I'm shocked the EVO's not on there... I keep goin back n forth between EVO or 8 that I wanna buy... I keep diggin up rumors of RX8 changes for the 07 model, maybe they're adding a new 7 or a revised renesis... Also why aren't there 06 RX8s out there, none on ebay nor Mazda's website n dealer inventory that I could find. I want a white with black cloth n spoiler no frills and all thrills lightweight 8.

LOL...sweet dude. You just described my 8 exactly the way I have it
Anyways, im also very surprised the evo didnt make the list. That cars performance is hard to beat for around 30k. But hey, at least we made the list again.

Great cars tend to have long lives in the C&D Top 10. IIRC, the Miata spent 11 years in a row in Top 10, until the NB started to show its age.. now the NC lands Top 10 on its first couple of months of existance..

I think the 8 and the NC will be in Top 10 for a long while to come

You can buy an RS brand new from the dealers around me for 29k, no mark up. But to get back on topic, does anyone else take great pleasure knowing the rx-8 beat out the 350z and g35 coupe for best sports coupe. I think the two nissans are great cars, but its nice to come out ahead of them.
