Your opinions please

Okay. I might take the plunge this weekend. 40th Anniversary model.

Have a look.

So. With less than 13000 miles on the clock should I need to worry about anything more than the compression test? I read that "before you buy" thread and don't know how much could really apply to a car that has such low mileage but I understand that means different things in the RX-8 world.

Also... I wonder how little I could pay for it. 18,000?

Opinions please, gentlemen (edit) and ladies!! I want to join your ranks!

I think they might let it go for $18k, if you are a qualified buyer. When I was shopping around for mine, I told the dealership "for $17k, I'll come to the dealership and buy it today" (They were asking $19k for my particular car) and there was no haggling, they said come on down and that was what I bought it for. You could try a similar approach.

15 TO 16? I don't want to insult them though. Edmunds TMV actually have it (40 anno) at 19,800. I have a sled (not really but it's 13 years old) to trade so I was hoping to get them down to 18 and then about 2k on the trade.

Funny.. haaaaated the Cosmo Red seats first few times I saw this edition but it's grown on me so much that I only want this if I'm to buy a series 1.

Check out all the little details...but other than that shouldn't be much to it with low miles like that.

Take a good look at the paint
Interior trims
Function of every button
Drive it with no air or radio on to listen to the car

Just a few tips that could save you a few hundred bucks in "stupid" repairs or fixes later. My mother in law bought a $11k suv just cause she liked the look of the outside without shopping around or checking it out much and it had carpet stains, missing ****, broken center consol latch, and they wanna charge her 500 bucks to fix everything.

Deffinetely haggle, they are never going to give you a GREAT deal, they wanna make money. For all you know they bought that car at an auction for 10k because it was repod

HAHA this was my third choice 40th AE I bet you could get to 19.
My first choice was the certified 40th AE that was close by, but it sold. Going to my second choice tomorrow.

I am paying under but close to edmunds + tax, tag, title and no trade in.

Muzi was my third choice because of the distance and not a huge fan of the wing.

GOT IT!!!!!

they gave me 3 grand for a 98 Beetle with 112000 miles on it and then came down another 1800 on the price. Did not expect that and I'd like to celebrate with a line from Swingers: "we act like we don't need the sh_t and we get the sh_t for free." Well... 18 Gs plus trade.

Tell me about it!

Where in Florida? Always good to add some kind of location detail to your profile, even if not exact.

Love bugs not too bad on Beachside, but I absolutely hate it when getting over to mainland, or god forbid, I have to go to Orlando or elsewhere.

Yeah, but there have been some issues with using them.....I believe ???????
Don't use it on my car and won't, but did try it on my dads(he's 80) old 1990 240sx and it did work.

What kind of issues do you speak of sir?

I've used them hundreds of times never had a problem, maybe it's a certain brand?

I actually live in Atlanta, GA. I flew down there and drove it back.

This will have to satisfy for now as far as pictures, more later.
We were out in the sticks of southern GA where exits are few and far between...bad luck when you pull off for gas and the only station for miles around is CLOSED!
