Yes its mr worse day again

Yes it's me, im back with another story, but guess what i got issued today............. A cop issued me 6 tickets at once out in Nassau county NY, I got the biggest bullsh!t tickets known to man, and I can only understand three of them, since he refused to expalin to me....

1 --was for not having my license, in which I did have it on me, he asked me for it and I looked in my pocket and I didnt have it in there, then he walked away and when he came back I showed it to him ( mind you this is before he wrote the ticket)

2 -- he wrote a ticket for not having my insurance card on me, when he never even asked me for it

3 -- this one is total bs, the ticket is for not properly using my signal, in reality i was driving on the right lane i put on my turn signal looked over my left and passed the car with much distance in front of me, ( mind u I always use my turn signals, It irritates me when people dont use it)

4,5,6 I dont understand what they arefor, he just put abbreviations in a handwriting I cant even understand,

I know for the most part I can get these easily taken out of in court, just the fact that I got these tickets in Ny and I live in Florida,

saturn 07-23-2006 09:24 PM

Maybe he read your last thread and was determined to set a new bar for your worst day ever.

PerformRX-8 07-23-2006 09:28 PM

wow i guess that cop just wanted to fufill a years worth of quota....... also what were u doing up here in NY? some cops just hate out of towners......... sorry about all the tickets, and hope the NY court which is strict will eliminate some of those tickets...

OBTIQ 07-23-2006 09:47 PM

well im originally from Ny and my family still lives up here, and I know my florida plates killed me, plus my mom is a ny cop and I have tons of connections all throughout nassau police department, it's just the fact that I have to fly back up here for court, im definetly gonna make the biggest complaint against him

Razz1 07-23-2006 10:27 PM

umm.. in right lane and passing..

Did he notice that and then pulled you over?

Man I hate cops. I only like detectives, they actually do shit that's important.

Ticket for improperly using a turn signal, that is such bullshit. What's next? Tickets for changing lanes to fast, or for making an unsmooth left turn? Goddamn police state America is.

Paul_in_DC 07-23-2006 11:33 PM

Maybe he saw that you were speeding, didn't have time to clock you, and decided to give you the BS tickets to make up for it.

I once got a BS speeding ticket when I know I wasn't speeding. I decided to take it without complaining. The fact that my buddy was hiding two half-empty beer bottles between his knees had nothing to do with it...

Aw c'mon, we were all young and stupid once.

OBTIQ 07-23-2006 11:35 PM

like i know much of this will get thrown away in court, but I went out to get something for my lil bro's 5th birthday party, and the cop had me for at least an hour for non sense, and I understand cops have quotas and all, but if your going to give me a ticket, give me somethen real not no bs, I have no problem paying for somethen I did, like if I was going 30 over speed limit, that I can deal with because I know I was in the wrong, but when you make shyt up, thas just horrible, all together these tickets add up to more then 900 dollars

It's not true that cops write tickets in order to make quotas, just ask Michael Bloomberg ;) Ticket quotas are actually illegal in most cases, but even when they exist they're usually very low.

I get the feeling you're leaving a lot out of this story and you must have done something to piss this guy off for him to write you 6 tickets. It's like the nonsense stories my 19 year old nephew tells me, the whole truth comes out after about 20 minutes of prying it out of him. Lastly, why the hell would you take 3 tickets and not ask or try to understand what they're for.

velociti 07-24-2006 12:47 AM

He likely stopped listening after the third ticket when it officially became THE worst day ever. i know i would.

how the hell do you earn 6 tickets at once? is that even possible?

BunnyGirl 07-24-2006 01:10 AM

It would be interesting to know what "4, 5, 6" said in their abbreviated form at least so as to at least try to guess what they are. I have to agree with Ike () on accepting tickets that you don't understand or know what they are for.

Yup! Someone like that and posted in the lounge. They got one for "Changing lanes to fast". I told him you cant go from left to right. You have to stay in one lane for at least 5seconds. He was like BS!
Oh well. Live an let learn. Its the law boy! lol

ALP22 07-24-2006 07:34 AM

So, he had ou there for at least an hour. Think how many other tickets he could have gone out and written in that one hour?

More than likely you did/said something to piss him off early on in the event, like not calling him Sir, and questioning his authority, and THAT is what made him write all the other tickets. If you'd just said "sorry sir it won't happen again" you'd have been on your way in 5 minutes.

are you serious- the guys in the uniforms do the job WE GIVE THEM TO DO. and i think for instance PULLING DRUNK DRIVERS off the street is shit that's ACTUALLY important. Enforcing the trafic law is important for public SAFETY. if you think the law they are enforing is wrong then go tell it to the LAWMAKERS that you ELECT.

"Shanika" 07-24-2006 12:07 PM

I'm actually disappointed, I thought you might had a flat to one of your tires.

What's the real story? I know there's more to the story than what's being told here.

OBTIQ 07-24-2006 12:44 PM

Well for one i do respect law enforcement, My mom is a cop a whole bunch of my cousins and other relatives are, and the fact that I will be one to in about 2 years as well. And no I didnt disrespect him at all, I know how to handle being pulled over and what not to say and what to say and how to hold my body as well ( I am a criminal justice major by the way) , and no there isnt anything im leaving out the story. I just happened to get the asshole cop of the day who happened to be following me for about a mile or so. I also know it does hurt that I have a florida license plate and im in NY.

And for whom said quotas dont exist, that's a lie. They are in effect but they arent called quotas, they are called productivity. There isnt a certain number you have to reach, it just has to be in that area, like in Miami you need around 130 tickets a month from each officer. So in a sense it's not a quota but it just shows that the cop is doin their job. Even if they really arent doing their job.

I second that. And it's a bit of a sensitive issue up here in Canada, where we just had two RCMP officers shot and killed, sniper-style, by the guy they were chasing. He was involved in domestic dispute, got chased by the RCMP. He ran into the woods with a long-barrel gun, and shot each in the head when they followed him.

The guy is a known, and self-admitted, cop hater. He turned himself in later, and faces two first-degree murder charges, plus an attempted murder charge (he attempted to kill a third RCMP officer the same way).

Last year we had four RCMP die. They were in a barn owned by another admitted cop-hater. The barn was a grow-op, but the RCMP didn't know the owner was in the barn. He ambushed them with automatic weapons before killing himself.

So I don't have a warm feeling toward anyone calling themselves cop haters.

:iwstupid:

And I agree that there must be more to the story. It's possible you caught the cop on his worst day ever, and there are some really ignorant cops; but this seems over the top even for the worst of them.

OBTIQ 07-24-2006 02:43 PM

well I know he was pissed for one, because being im an out of state license driver it takes them like a half hour to search you up through the system, and to be quite honest with you, my profile alone kills me, being a young man with a hooked up car, in an middle-income area, with florida plates. Like i've been followed before around this area, but they usually just tag for a while and then will cut off after a while, nothing serious. It pisses me off because I left my wallet with the badge and pba card in florida. Im going to stop at my neighbors house tomm and pick up one of those Dea cards.

These men weren't saints -- they were just men. And moreover, that quote is so relative. Laws exist for the sole reason of limiting people's freedoms for the sole benefit of security. For example, you can't go around shooting people in the face. We have restricted that freedom for the security of everyone.

zoned 07-24-2006 04:07 PM

try growing up in a small town where driving past 9:00 pm is probable cause. I used to have about 30 of those little white breathalizer straws and would get pulled for nothing once or twice a month. I respect police, but let's face it, some of em are just assholes on a power trip and they ruin it for alot of good officers.

So you're saying the only reason I don't go and shoot someone in the face is because it's against the law? :rollingla

I know they were just men, but Ben Franklin was a brilliant man. And it's my opinion that his quote is beautifully put.

then,

Ok - actually trying to help the OP; wait, I got nothing. I'm really not sure why you accepted tickets w/o making him explain. After wasting an hour of my time, I would have acted like I was thick as a brick, and wasted some of his. How you got the ticket for no license is beyond me. If you've got family on the force, why not ask them? t'is all very odd. In your defense, I'd have been arrested if the cop was truly just being a dick. So you did better than me in that respect.

well my mom is in Florida right now and I told her the abbrv. and she didnt understand them, and belive me I tried to waste his time once i got the tickets, but it's cool though, im not really stressin it because it wont fly in court ( if he even shows up), and im going to request a full report on each of my tickets as well, so he'll have a fun day in the office writing a report on the 6 tickets he issued me. I cant wait to chew his ass up in court, As I think i said from the beginning , im just pissed that i'll have to miss a day of class and spend money on a plane ticket to travel back up here.

Can you hire traffic court lawyers in NY via phone and present your case to them and have representation without having to appear in NY?? $900 on a "routine" traffic stop? Man, I thought the fines in Cali were high. Good luck on your case. I hope all ends well.

hey, i got a ticket this past weekend for having tinted windows ... um, i dont have any tint anywhere. i told him so, he made me roll down my window half way (with the entire Chicago rotary community watching -- we were at the Rotary BBQ) and he claims since his white piece of paper looked a bit green behind the glass ... TINT! He was then going to go down the line and write everyone a ticket.

As he was giving me the ticket and telling me to just mail my money in, he informed me that Mazda is one of those manufacturers who "makes illegal cars."

I'm pretty sure my day in court will be amusing to say the least.

What an ass! I've always thought that most tint laws make an exception for manufacturer installed tint although now that I look, I can't find anywhere in our state law (NC) that says so. Although it does say this :

Defense. – It is a defense to a charge of driving a vehicle with an unlawfully tinted window that the tinting was removed within 15 days after the charge and the window now meets the window tinting restrictions. To assert this defense, the person charged shall produce in court, or submit to the prosecuting attorney before trial, a certificate from the Division of Motor Vehicles or the Highway Patrol showing that the window complies with the restrictions.

RedSheDevil 07-26-2006 07:01 PM

Hell, this dude spent an hour in his cruiser looking through all the books to see what he could write me up for. The thing that just pisses me off, is that I approached him (before he started writing any tickets) to ask if there was anything I could do as the organizer to make sure our group was in compliance with all the rules.

Oh BTW, he is a Forest Preserve cop with the same authority as an Illinois State cop.

Mugatu 07-26-2006 07:28 PM

then maybe this thread title will have some meaning.
