WOW the dealers are retarded

k so ive been pursuing this rx8 at a local mazda dealer its in pretty good shape and runs really well (50000 miles) its an 04 6mt,

but anyway onto my point are all mazda sales men a bunch of retards? like i was called to come in because i complained about the smoke issue of the car (previous owner smoked like a chimney and i want that smell gone or as much gone as possible) so they say they will ionize it blah blah blah

the car was supposed to get this done yesterday and i was coming today at a certain time to look at it.... and ofc i come and oh what do you know its not done, first of all i live out of town 30-45 minute drive so when im called to see something it better be done or have a valid reason....

the salesmens reason is that i was talking to another salesmen who happens to be the owner of the dealerships son but i honestly dont give a rats *** who sells me the car i just want the damn car..... but since i was talking to that one guy another salesmen phones me to make this appointment for today to check the car out because its been cleaned... which it wasnt so i come and nothings done and wasted my time.

so of course im incredibly pissed because i brought my parents with me to come check it out and then the salesmen (not the owners son) tells me he cant deal with me because the owners son claimed me :S like wtf am i a piece of meat? Me and my Faimly are incredibly pissed off with this dealership but they have the car i want so we will be talking to the owner himself and complaining about there useless salesmen.

OH! and on my way home i get called by the salesmen(not the son) telling me about how sorry he is and that he wants to make it up to me BLAH BLAH then asks if he can make another appointment and i tell him to come pick me and my faimly up then. and of course he wants a sale since he gave me a sob storey about making a living blah blah but ya he doesnt know how far i live but other then that my day was decent

so ya end of rant.... so kick every salesmen in the ***** for me! because next time i see them they will have a new arsehole and my mom is good at arguing aswell......

yeah i'd make them bring the car to your house and cut a couple grand off the price or tell them u don't even want to see it! But then again i'm an ******* like that and would rather see them suffer without a sale and keep looking! just my 2cents

some salesman are under-educated about the cars they sell and not in tune with people's wants as opposed to what the salesman can sell you.

How many people become car salesmen because it was their childhood dream, and devoted their lives to training for it?

If you do buy that car, let us know if the ionization thing really does clean out the smoke stench.

Werd.

Personally, if a dealership jerked my around like that, you can kiss my *** goodbye because I'm not going to buy from them.

They don't really have any reason to sell the car to you at some ridiculously low price just because they inconvenienced you. They're there to make money, not lose it.

Don't expect the world.

as a note about th eionizing, my wife and i bought a used Ford Escape a few years back with the same issue of smoke smell. the dealer said they would take care of the problem. took two trips to the dealer to get the smell out..traded that car in last year though...

I agree...buy from a private seller. You can get a better feeling for how well the car was maintained & get answers to specifc questions that you can't get from a dealer

This is exactly why I love dad, reading this reminds me of him for the fact that he will go to a dealership and have those salesmen looking bad. We went and looked at a car, he talked them way down and said we would be back the next day with the money and they should go ahead and have the paperwork ready for the price we agreed(they made no money on the sale btw) tomorrow. The salesman we dealt with did the whole talk to the manager about the price and make us wait a good hour to settle on the price situation, he asks my dad for a phone number my dad replied give me your business card and I will call you if anything changes. We drive off, dad looks at me and says "were not buying it from them son" I was confused, he said I already had the same price at another dealer I just wanted to see if this dealer would go lower and they treated us like crap so I will treat them the same. Probably a bad example on how to treat people on my dads part but I learned how to be in charge of the sale, especially with the economy now you can probably walk out of a dealership for the same price they paid for the car if you work them long engough. He had a dealer once give him the keys to a used 350z to try out over the weekend while he was working them, he dropped the "I would have to let my wife see it first" line and that wont be until late next week before she can come down, she/he didn't love the car and the salesman wasn't too happy but he gave him the option to drive it so why not.

There's plenty of RX-8s out there... don't get your panties in a bunch because a dealer forgot to ionize... they have plenty of other things to worry about other than selling an RX-8 they will probably make little to no money off of.

I feel ya.

Sometimes I wonder why dealerships even have car salesmen, since the deal has to fly by the general manager anyway. When I was looking between the Civic SI and GTI, I nearly bought the SI. So I'm in Honda for a few hours negotiating the price with the salesman. When we finally agree on numbers, he then goes to the manager and everything changes. Suddenly, I'm negotiating with the manager for ANOTHER allotted amount of time. Apparently the deal I had JUST agreed on with the sales guy meant squat. So after the manager and I negotiated a bit, he THEN sent the sales guy back over to finalize things!!! So not surprisingly enough, the second the sales guy came back over I told him I wasn't interested anymore and bolted. Almost no car is worth such nonsense.

At VW, the sales guy within 5 minutes of standing outside look at V dubs told me straight out what I would get off each MSRP. No nonsense, no bs. That is the way every dealership should be run. Not one soul wants to do that sales guy/manager game bs.

milk what you can out of the owner, but do so with professionalism and base respect. They may bend over for you. If not, walk away... buyers market.

I can't believe you guys put up with so much crap. I walk out. My time is valuable, and so is theirs.

If they could figure that out, they would have better deals for customers and better profit for dealerships.

Every minute the sales rep or manager is wasting time fretting over a couple dollars is time they could be using to make more sales or doing something more productive. F'ing stupid.

I always tell them to take their "advertisements" on the back off or a grand off the price....they usually don't like that one!

They did you a favor. Find a car you like that doesn't stink like an ashtray, and a salesperson who shows you some respect. Anyplace that puts the whims of the owner's son above their customers would only have given you more grief later on. There is such a thing as company culture and you've already learned enough about this one's

If you can't handle the smoke smell, then don't buy that car. Plain and simple; it will never come all the way out. Find another car. This one isn't worth it to you.

the smoke smell will never fully come out, agreed

my grandmother smoked a pack a day (she did quit somewhat so she's still around) but she refused to ever smoke in her car (even with the windows open) because, being the sensible lady she is, she didn't want to risk devaluing the vehicle.

It's part of their system. It's not like you're negotiating with one guy, then another. They do it that way to prolong the process, make you spend hours there so you'll give in from fatigue. When the salesman goes to talk to the manager, they spend half an hour or so discussing the latest football or baseball game, then just resume the script.
