Yeah, but a Lotus is a sports car, a GTI is a sports car. they get great mileage.
I might be kicked off for bitching too much, but a 3000 lb car should return 20mpg in regular driving. I know everything about the Rotary engine and gas consumption...
The RX8 is suited to high rpm racing and not daily driving around.
It's a great engine, but it sucks when 90% of your driving is stop and go.
That said, I still think the CEOs are having fun at our expense. Rotten bastards.

Most of my accumulated mileage was in florida for my 120+ mile a day round trip commute. There are no hills, it's flat.

I usually get above the sticker as well. In summer I get 21-22 mpg in my 1989 Ranger, and it's a 4wd auto V6. I've hit 24 on a long trip in the 8, and average 22 normal driving. And no, I'm not driving like grandma. Tried that and it hurt my economy.
