im not that miserable about it, its a sports car and its getting sports car mileage. I drive it up in the high rpms for kicks so i expect her to drink heartily. Still though, i'd love it if somehow a river of premium got diverted to run through my back yard.

Yeah, but a Lotus is a sports car, a GTI is a sports car. they get great mileage.
I might be kicked off for bitching too much, but a 3000 lb car should return 20mpg in regular driving. I know everything about the Rotary engine and gas consumption...

The RX8 is suited to high rpm racing and not daily driving around.
It's a great engine, but it sucks when 90% of your driving is stop and go.

That said, I still think the CEOs are having fun at our expense. Rotten bastards.

I prefer fried Baby Bald Eagles for dinner.

Then I cut up the leftovers and serve them for lunch in a nice salad.

Is anyone going to help me challenge this guy to prove this claim??

You're doing something wrong with the math, or you only drive downhill.
I got 187,000 miles in ~4 years on that car ( honda civic hx 5 speed )... avg is 48mpg. best tank was 58 mpg... tennessee to almost the end of missouri on one tank ( 13.8 gallons )... later as I got into nevada and got onto the crap gas they use there ( this was a drive to oregon ) I was only getting 360 miles to a tank... that sucked since the gas was almost a dollar more expensive...

Most of my accumulated mileage was in florida for my 120+ mile a day round trip commute. There are no hills, it's flat.

This is just vindication that the EPA are a bunch of liars and it's all a conspiracy by the government to make us think that we are getting good milage, all the while we have to spend more to line the pockets of the fat-cat oil executives, who spend it all on private jets to the cayman islands, where they hide thier profits in suitcases full of money in private banks, and then rent big luxury boats to go fishing for big game fish, and then go to town where they pick up strippers and pounds of blow, and then take helicopters to thier ski chalet in Austria, where they do the blow and eat endangered species for dinner, served by scantily-clad female french chefs, who moonlight as strippers, and then are entertained by Elvis while they laugh at us poor Americans getting 5mpg in our Ford Escorts....

Damn oil companies.
All right Joe!...
Has O'Reilly called you yet?
You're due an appearance.

Thanks for that fresh breath of expression...

I usually get above the sticker as well. In summer I get 21-22 mpg in my 1989 Ranger, and it's a 4wd auto V6. I've hit 24 on a long trip in the 8, and average 22 normal driving. And no, I'm not driving like grandma. Tried that and it hurt my economy.
