Wood burning smell?

it's almost like theres a nice dark walnut wood burning smell comming from the 8 somewhere...

I've heard of brakes that are designed to emit a smell when they start to wear, ...

I change and check the oil regularly, and it's not clitch burn....

anyone by chance know what it might be?

Oh you didn't know?? To keep weight down, the RX-8 frame is completely built of bolsa wood.

Naw, my brakes smell all the time--especially after a rough drive home in rush-hour traffic.

Check your exhaust system for a rodent nest. Don't laugh. It HAS happened to someone on this forum.

The smell could be spilled oil from the filter when you changed it. At least that's the dealer's explanation.

about six months back,on several mournings when entering the garage where I kept my 8 , this wierd smell, like burnt rubber or something..I started looking in the engine bay and later lifted to check the underside of the car for a source of that f@*ked up smell when I ran across a piece of fiberboard material wedged above the exhaust just rear of the engine. Dn't know where it originated but I dont think it came from the engine bay area ....I still smell it every once awhile...wierd though
