Winshield washer fluid - Frozen of Broken?

While driving today I noticed the winshield washer fluid on my car only comes out on the right side. The entire left squirter does not work. I checked and the washere fluid is almost completly full. I have not filled it yet, the dealer tops it off whenever I bring the car in and I dont use it all that much. Last night the temp was below 0 and today it only got up to 9.

Has anyone heard of the washer fluid line freezing or is the pump broken?

Probably plugged ......or frozen if it's really cold. Usually it will unthaw because there is alcohol in the mix. Sometimes it will fall off the nozzle inside the hood.....usally then the other side will be weak.....

Use a pin and unclog the hole. Wax can block it

Mine froze up on my last week when I was up in Kansas. As soon as I started heading south it thawed out and worked fine...

Winter sure is difficult this year. Sounds like its frozen a bit or its plugged with some car wax. Did you have any spray problems when its above freezing? Try taking a few cups of windshield fluid that is room temp and pour it over the left nozzle to see if this clears up. Might try putting a blow dryer on the nozzle but away from the window. That might help thaw it.

I had this happen with my Miata the first year I moved to Chicago- it still had the normal washer fluid (from Florida) and while the tank still had liquid, the fluid in the lines or in the nozzles themselves froze. The RX8's stuff that the dealer or port installed completely froze on me last year when it was way below zero, so I started using this bright orange stuff by Turtle Wax called Liquid Fire De-icer and windshield washer fluid. It's guaranteed to -25F... and I've never had a problem with it. Last February the lowest I think I saw was around -18F and it still came out fine.

My windshield washer only squirts the washer liquid about 12 iinches up on the windshield. Is this normal? I find it a bit low as it does not even reach halfway up the windshield.

Seems to be normal. Mine is like that and the shop manual shows the aim points being fairly low.. Seems to work ok. But you can adjust the nozzles by putting a needle into the nozzle's hole and using it to pivot the nozzle. I've had cars where I purposely aim one or two over the roof so I can drizzle tailgaters :p

Thanx, I'll try that.

My washer fluid froze as well, but it was the fluid from the factory. I live here in Chicago as well. I switched over to some stuff that is good down to -20F. So far it seems to be working.
Also I gotta say these Dunlop M3sport winter tires rock!! :D
