He's as bad as Can
Been discussed before https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/fd-rx7-front-brake-calipers-72853/
As for the aftermarket here is one site http://www.racingbrake.com I don't have their brakes but have been to their shop.

It is nearly impossible to improve upon the OEM braking system on the RX-8. It is already superior to the aftermarket solutions that were offered for the 7.
Most of the aftermarket brake manufacturers have found that they loose performance with bigger calipers and rotors.
At best, you might break even.
There. I used "brake" and "break" in one post without being demonstrative.
No, what happens then is "cry".

Loose - not tight
Lose - What's going to happen to my front teeth if I keep correcting everyone's grammer when you all beat the crap out of me.

If you want to improve braking performance - invest in stickier tires; flush the brake fluid; find out from the track guys which performance brake pads to fit. If you want bling - then "upgrade" the brakes.

To the original poster, from the sounds of it you're not some track junkie so most people telling you to not bother spending money on brakes are correct. The RX-8 once turboed isn't so powerful that the car needs better brakes.
If you insist on getting some nice aftermarket brakes check out Brembo, Project Mu, Endless, Stoptech, or Wilwood.

Bummed, but bring on OU!
The only reason I see for someone who doesn't track the car alot to change the braking system is for lowering unsprung weight (and asthetics too I guess). Swapping out rotors and calipers all the way around to stock sized aftermarket stuff can reduce this weight by about 40-50lbs (based on weights given by RacingBrake in a thread in the Competition forum). With a lightweight wheel/tire combo, this is some serious, if expensive, weight reduction, and braking performance should at the very least stay the same. Heck that's a good reason for someone who tracks the car to change the braking system.

Most people that track their cars say that the RX-8 has one of the best stock braking systems on the market. For upgraded braking you should be able to swap out the pads for some Hawk HP+ pads install braded steel brake lines and put some high temperature brake fluid in after flushing out the old stuff.
That should do nicely, and it'll all only cost a couple hundred bucks.
good luck.

If you want to improve braking, get some sticky tires, decent pads, and stainless steel lines. If you can lock the tires (or in case of these cars trigger the ABS) your brakes are working fine.
