Will different tires void your warranty???

Ok. A question - the RX8 owner's manual recommends you place 225/45-18 tires only on your 18X8 rims. Now what if you put a 245/40-18 tires (which many tire installations considers OK with 18x8 rims), will that void your warranty if something goes wrong?

On second thought. Will different tires impact the speedo? and how about the tire senors? Perhaps some MS dudes would have the answer. Let us know when you get a good answer.

Umm No and No. The tires aren't warrantied by Mazda anyway so you can use any tires you choose. I had 245/40WR18 on mine and never had a problem. As long as you do not exceed +/- 4% of the original tires you should be ok!

ya, if you put these tires on and your alternator goes bad, mazda cant relate the two. I dont see how it could effect the warrantee, well unless something goes wrong with your stearing or something that mazda could directly relate them

I'm betting they could deny liability if you try to sue them because you got into an accident and the ABS or DSC/TSC failed. I generally stay with the oem sizes and just upgrade the rubber itself which won't cause any issues.

When you say warrantied, Im thinking you purchased the Road Hazard program? If you did, they will not honor your warranty if your not in the specs stated in the manual. I've asked and the MNA said I can use any type of tires as long as it's whats specified in the manual, ie 225/45-18. So, basically you're screwed if you buy anything that is not within the specs.

tayninh its the wheel choice that effects whether you can use the tire pressure monitoring sensors or not- not the tire. do a search for tpms and wheels. ayap888 tires cannot void your warrenty. nothing voids your warrenty. you can be denied free repair of something normally covered by the warrenty if the aftermarket product can be proven to have caused the problem. new tires wont effect the warrenty on your alternator or your engine seals etc. however if you have something like a road hazzard warrenty then you need to read the fine print of that policy to find out what is acceptable replacement for original equiptment. you may be required to stay within the stock size to keep the warrenty coverage or it may just simply expire att the end of the life of the originals and not cover the new tires.

You can choose to use any tires you want without fear of voiding the factory warranty. The only real modification you can have, to my knowledge, without voiding the warranty, is a cat-back exhaust system.

If you change the tyres out of size spec then yes - mazda could refuse to honour warrenty claims - but only on suspension parts(or related parts). I doubt they would but they could. Heavier tyres could have an effect on the suspension in theory.
