Why People Cry About Gas Mileage?
Now that the weather will start to warm up, I plan on driving mine everyday to school and work. Paying more for fuel isn't fun but it is only $10-$15 more to fill up the Rx8 as compared to my malibu. I'll just have to save 15 dollars by not eating out as often. It does worry me when they say that fuel prices will go up to $5.00 by 2012. It's still not as bad as in Europe at least.

in what way is having an 8 as a dd dumb, if thats the car you love and enjoy to drive and take care of? id rather spend my time and money on a car i love and enjoy to drive than a car that makes me miserable every time i step into it
I'm with you on that. They also wouldn't have given it 4 seats and doors if it wasn't meant for that. I even see people with 350z's and s2000's at my school in the winter. Our cars are much more DD friendly. I guess the message is, don't complain about the fuel efficiency if you are going to be driving it a lot.

Yeah, it's leaking it out of the injectors and around those bloody triangular things.
Then it spits it out of the exhaust on fire.
Here, you check the math.
20 litre tank.
8 mile track.
2 laps with about a gallon left over in the tank and filter to prevent starvation.

I think you misunderstand me. I pretty much mean that in a very utilitarian way. It's going to be my DD now, since the ZX2 is dead. I'm certainly not driving it fo r MPG though. I figure most that drive their cars day to day are looking to get decent mileage out of it.
I did some research on a few cars before I bought the 8 and I noticed the 350z, s2000, and 3 series bmw were much more to insure than the 8. Because it saves me on insurance I have no problem paying extra for gas.... Plus its a much better drive than the others imho.
Another side benefit
Something else to make us feel better...we don't have to listen to strange marble in a can ticking noises throughout ownership (loose, 15 ft. long timing chains) clanking around inside aluminum casings that threaten to jump teeth and bend valves.
Obviously, we have our own issues but chain work is at least $1500 to have done and many DOHC engines are experiencing issues - to the point where I'd rather have a timing belt on some...

Yeah I don't get that if it gets bad mileage then it should be making more power logic. Kinda like the people that get mad at a manufacturer for its engines not making a certain power per liter as some competitors.
Because.......... the car is rated at 16 city 24 highway MPG. So it should be getting around 20mpg average for most people and there are many users on this forum that don't get it. I get it probably because I live in Illinois (0 hills) and a lot of the driving I do is on the highway.
though..if gas gets above $4 here, I will most likely make my 87 MR2 my commuter car at least some of the time. Thoguh I guess I should be lucky. I get at least 6 days of commuting out of a tank in the 8 and I to take fun liberties daily with it but I also do 75% hiway and 25% city (but with minimal stoppage), don't go racing around town, and rarely use the car for doing errands around town (IE going to the mall, out to eat, groecery shopping etc).
