The 8 pretty much has a "cult" following. Is not a mainstream car like say the 350Z. Do a search and see the most recent (as well as the last 2 years) annual sales #'s for the 8, they are low. So, obviously if it doesnt sell very well among the masses, the resale value is gonna be *****.
Also, uninformed people looking to purchase a sports car tend to base their decisions on acceleration numbers they see posted in magazine articles. The 8 doesnt stack up as well in acceleration compared to other sports cars in the same price range. Stupid people seem to overlook the fact that the 8 is superior in pretty much every other category.
Furthermore, gas mileage sux with the 8. Premix or no premix, if you are driving the 8 like ur suppose to, it will not fare too well in this dept. Not sure why someone buying a sports car cares so much about gas mileage, nevertheless people bitch about it.

Resale after the 1st year???
When you goto resell any car after the first year to year and a half - you are not going to come close to what you owe. The first year or two is when you take the largest depreciation hit.
Hold onto it for another year to year and a half and then sell it, the market really evens out on the RX-8 around that time (This assuming that you did not roll any negative equity into the car to begin with).

Just wonder how it feels like if I put turbo on my 8.

Yeah, that's becuase no one buys them.
I don't think you'd get much complaint if it produced more power, but the 8 is about as powerful as a 4 cylinder in an S2000, but drinks gas like V-8 in a Corvette.

Third gen RX-7s didn't sell well either when they were released. Today however you can't touch one in good or better condition for less than about 12k, and upwards of 20k for a twin turbo 12+ years after the fact. It'll even out, and I'll be driving mine until the wheels fall off.

I zoom therefore I am.
Buying an RX8 with an eye towars resales is like getting married with your eye towards a divorce. You'll be seperated in the end and your wallet will be lighter.

Just goes to show that editors at a major car magazine know something about cars, beyond the numbers.

I wonder if the wam bam up to $8000 rebate offered in Jan 06 (correct me if I'm wrong) played any roll in the RX8's value... I was so tempted to nab the one I wanted for $22k instead of $29k. Much as I don't feel confident in buying a used one, my car dealer buddy says he sees em rollin through the auction for some dang good prices.

I don't buy Kool-Aid
Also not every car ins. co. is going by the KBB. Now they are going by the reginal resale value. IE: You only find 8's in your souranding area selling for 25K.
Just some food for thought.
