Why I REGRET buying my RX-8
I don't know why everyone says that the RX-8 brakes are sooo good. They're just normal performance. My old 98 Prelude's brakes were much better than the 8's and is a cheaper car and 8 years older too.

Didn't read the whole thread so forgive me if I repeat anything. Most car brands are not going to give you money for something on a $30k car. I don't care if it's a Porsche or a Lexus, once you buy the car and drive it for 30k miles, they don't care that your brakes squeel. And, if that's all you can find to bitch about, then I'd say you have a pretty good life.

People will hear your RX8 and see the badge and think, "shitty Mazda brakes.......whata POS."

No amount of replacement rotors or turning makes it go away. But I guess you know that since this is not your first mustang.
So far so good on this Mustang......but I have had others with the warp issue you mention resulting in a 'pulse' feeling. I don't agree with the "no amount of replacement rotors" comment though.....you can always buy better quality rotors than the OE. The warping is not a bad Ford brake design....it's cheap steel in the OE rotors. Many OEM's have the same problem.....not just Ford.
As far as the RX8 brake squeal issue is concerned, I had the same issue with mine....but the TSB fixed that issue quite nicely. I never agreed with anyone that thought we should just live with the brake squeal......especially one as bad as mine was. I definitely disagree with the tech that told this guy the TSB doesn't work to cure the issue.

The customer service rep told me mazda would not reimburse me if I took my car to an independanct shop and that I would have to have the replacement brake put on. Even the customer service rep said the "new" brake pad is only a little better.
At this point I am committed to posting this message on every RX-8 chat forum I can find. There is no reason someone should buy ANY car, especiallyone at 30K dollars, when the brake squeaking is what it is and Mazda won't compensate me.
I have asked mazda to respond to my request and their answer in writing. Lets see if they actually do.

and hey yours do but I am willing to put up with it so fair deal
I regret buying my RX-8 after I drove a Corvette.. However it was just a momentary feeling. In actuality, they are both wonderful animals, just in different ways. The RX-8 introduced me to high-performance car experience. The Corvette, however, showed me what was possible.
I don't mean to say at all that I don't agree with my purchase decision. the C6 wasn't around at the time. But my thought now, which I recognize is obviously flawed, is that I would prefer plunking down the 38k or so that I'm paying for the RX-8 towards the lovely 06 vette.
But of course when I drive my baby to work everyday, its still a pretty darn good drive, and I'm reminded of why I bought her in the first place... zoom-zoom

We're all going to need more than one set of brakes in the life of this car. Why get so hung up on the OE stuff that happened to come with the car, especially when (most) Madza service centers have been so generous with the TSBs and replacing partially to mostly used up brakes with no pro-rating cost?
I've seen posts here from people who were charged a pro-rated cost for battery replacement, even under TSB or recall, but I can't think of such a claim for the brake TSB. Folks under 12,000 miles just get new pads (self included) WooHoo!
Replying to the first page about break squeaks.
I would not keep any car I liked if I could not stop something soo annoying and aggravating as break squeals. No new car these days should be subject to that kind of aggravation. I dont care if its a 15k Kia, or a 75k Acura.

<Absolute Value>I hate my RX-8 because it looks cool! I hate it! I hate how the suspension is god-like! I hate how it handles! I hate it because it has a rotary engine! I hate it!!!!</Absolute Value>
My mazda dealership will warrant my car if i get work done at other places... as long as I bring in the receipt.
Brakes squeal depending on the compound of the pad to the rotor. And when they get worn down to the metal tab. Better performing brakes tend to squeal.

OP, can I have a quick word?

besides, even the SLR Mclaren's brakes squeel, not only does it squeel, it occasionally catch fire, do you like the SLR?
