The 11 month battle with Mazda and dealers is what had me looking to trade in. The best offer I ended up getting on trade for my car was $10,500, but that's only after factoring in the magical increase in price of the vehicle I was looking at.

I think alot of you just skim read. I have seen that car on craigslist here in Richmond for atleast a couple months.

I think its time you winterize it.......... Keep it nice for when those kids get older.

04 + 4AT should be your key answer.

From what I observe at the local Craigslist, clean RX-8s do sell fairly quickly. Specimens with lowered suspension, aftermarket rims, exhausts etc tend to be lifers on Craigslist. That's my observation anyways of the local rx-8 market trends.

First off, these other cars you speak of selling for a higher price than you are asking are just that selling. What price are they bought for???
I just sold my 05 Velo Red Sport in August for $13,500 on Ebay after sitting in the front yard for 4 months.
The KBB and NADA books are for suckers, My co-worker and his dad have a luxury car dealership and I looked at the dealer price book. The top of the line 05 Shinka in July is worth 21k, GT about 18k, my sport was 12.5k with all the goodies.

You have a nice car but 14,15k is all you will get IMO. Take what you can get and be happy.

you got a collectors edtion, you just dont know it yet. but tc good luck though. i hpe some one buys it.

also i always laugh when ppl say 04 = bad. i have mine since 04 and no problems yet (60k miles). if you keep up with the maintence = less worries.

Well, i have had a few calls but no one has yet to come out and take a peek at the car. I do think that the Velocity Red is prob the most wanted color for the RX-8, and the fact that my car has the sunroof, spoiler, and Apearance Package, rotory accents, adds to the look of the car. As far as looks, this car is the best it can get, in my opinion, i think it looks much better than RX-8's that have no spoiler or ground FX. The base model RX-8s with 16" wheels, and halogen headlights, i won't even go there

if you cant sell the car, the price is to high.. it is really that simple..

04 auto. mileage does not matter.. if you get 13k. you should take it and run..

I've been looking and have now found a '06 BMW 330i with 27k miles (it's an auto w/out iDrive or nav) in MINT condition (one owner car, clean title) and the guy's willing to sell it for $23,000 -

- so yeah, the economy sucks right now.

Hear the voice of reason... If the '04 MT with Navi sell for $15K, what can U realistically expect for a 4-speed auto?

I think

I think he wants himself from 2007 to drop by and buy the car for his asking price. Unfortunately, it isn't happening fast enough.

Good luck OP. Selling cars is always a hassle, especially if you are trying to get top dollar (+) which you are trying to do.

Automatics always sell slower for sports cars than the manuals. Good luck though.

If our local Carmax will still take the car I'd go with the $13K they offered, they may not even offer that now with lower availability of credit.
You initially overpayed for the car period, and are suffering the consequences. In the long run you will lose less now than if you wait till spring.

sorry,

did you sell your car yet?

what does the miles on the two cars have to do with anything. you are only selling your car, correct?

if a car with 77k miles on it sold for more than your car. well, karma is a bitch.. i would work on that.

btw, i would think you might get 1k more than the 77k mile car..

beers

The mileage of a car is not the biggest factor to most people.

Buyers would gladly take an 80k mile MT over a 20k mile AT, even if the price of the MT is higher.

Sure, if you have 2 equivalent cars (say both 04 AT), one with low miles and one with higher miles, both asking about the same price, people will go with the lower mile car, if they are sitting side by side.

But this may not be true IN THE LOCAL MARKET. Maybe that 77k mile car was the only one IN IT"S PRICE RANGE, in the local market where it sold. IF it was the best deal at the time and in the area, then that is why it sold.

Meanwhile, maybe there are other cars that are as good or better deals in your area, which is why yours has not sold.

There are several factors at play here. Look, we're not here to beat you up, but you asked, we are telling, and now you don't like what you are hearing...that's not our fault.

Because you're asking about 4,000 dollars too much. 04 auto is the least desirable RX-8 you can find. P.S. you way overpaid when you bought it too. I bought my new 05 Sport in May of 06 for 20.5K

I got a call yesterday from a guy in Lynchburg, VA, he may come take a look at it tomorrow. My lowest advertised price on the car is $16,200. I won't sell for less than $15,700. I'll keep sitting on it, im not in a struggle for cash. One of his questions was why did mazda decide to do this extended Warrenty for the engine. I do know it covers the core engine componets, anyone else have a better answer for that? For my car i think its good until 100K miles and my car was built on June 11th, 2004. So my car was also a very late 2004 model car. Car was first purchased Sept 8th, 2004. Factory warrenty just expired a month ago today.

Thanks to everyone's opinion and ideas on this Thread, but i think tomorrow will be Goodbye for my RX-8. I decided to let it go for $15,000 to a guy out in Lynchburg, VA. If all goes as planned he will take it home in his enclosed trailer. I was really holding out for $15,500 - But the new owner pointed out the cost of tires, the door ding, and it does still have the original battery, so things like that will be upcomming expenses. I guess im lucky to pocket any sum of money with the slow economy for car sales. I do know that if i were to ever own another RX-8 it will be a manual not an automatic.....but like i said i had originally purchased this car for my spoiled wife! Thanks again to everyone, this has been a nice place to come while ive owned the RX-8.

All things considered I think you got a much better deal than he did. Good to hear you sold it for a decent price, especially with a slow economy in fall during a gas crunch. Guy must not have done much research about it I guess, but there are a few buyers out there like that.

Your asking way to much, I bought an 07 GT back in Feb with 6 miles on it for 22k brand new from the dealer.
Besides I think everyone knows the 04's had too many problems and will not take the risk.
