Who ever want's to steal a RX8 on eBay

I just thought I would post this, I hope this is not against the rules, there is a RX8 in CA on eBay with 11hours left and it's currently price at $14,000 with no reserve price.

It's too far from me and I'm not into the dark green color...but I'd thought I'd let you know...

It's item# 4500352289

Yeah, I thought so too. I've seen 8's go for $20,000 in eBay and they are from dealerships not private sales. Also, they have low miles so it's not like they have been run into the ground or anything.

$14K USD = $20K AUD (approx)

You would be lucky to get a used Rx8 for less than $56K over here.

Salvaged Title is the reason -- looks good though -- would make a great car for installing FI since warranty is already good due to the salvage.

Probably a flood car - those can be a real mess - I wouldn't risk $10.00 on it.

Can you explain this 'salvaged title' a bit?

It wasn't in a flood.

The auction clearly states: "THIS VEHICLE HAS SALVAGE/REBUILT TITLE DUE TO A PRIOR REAR-END COLLISION. REAR BUMPER, TRUNK LID, TAIL LIGHTS, BOTH QUARTER PANELS & THE TRUNK FLOOR WERE DAMAGED. ALL THE DAMAGED PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH GENUINE MAZDA PARTS. PAINT MATCHES PERFECTLY, WHEEL ALIGNMENT IS STRAIGHT. IT LOOKS & PERFORMS LIKE A NEW ONE."

Consider this: The entire rear end (rear clip) has been replaced on this car. Being a salvage title as someone else here pointed out voids any factory warranty. It does look nice though. For a buyer that doesn't care about such things, this would make a great buy. Someone looking to ship it overseas for example may truly see the value in this piece. My personal guess is that it will rally a bit more closer to the end of auction.

Any car that was damaged enough in a rear-end crash to total it isn't worth buying ... rear end crashes mess up the unibody far worse than even front end crashes. I'd be VERY surprised if this car goes straight down the road.

Wow, this pisses me off.... My own car was badly rear-ended over three months ago and it's still in the shop being repaired; my insurance company refused to total it, even though I wanted them to. See pix of the damage in this thread. The repairs have cost over $14,800 so far.

That ebay car probably was damaged as badly as mine, if not worse... probably worse if it was declared a total loss. Mine had to have both rear quarter panels cut off and replaced, rear window replaced, rear frame members cut and replaced, driveshaft replaced, trunk floor replaced, etc... more than what the ebay seller is saying was done to his car.

I'm still angry that I'm being forced to take back a car with damage that extensive. I'm glad you posted this, rx8wannahave. I'm going to print out that ebay car and its final sale price and show it to my insurance company -- to prove that they're idiots, and that they now owe me the difference between what my car is worth now and what it would have been worth before being hit.
