Unless you're Elvis, you shouldn't have a problem as I bet the holder should fit 90% of sunglasses. I think it's better than most since it's a snug fit to prevent them from rattling around, not to mention the padding which also prevents the scratching of the lenses.

Makes a lot more sense than saving a few grams of weight. If that is the case it is almost as silly as some of the stuff they did to the first Porsche GT3 (sticker instead of emblem, mesh shifter cover, etc.)

A old fashioned cast foam, fabric wrapped visor weighs less than a injection molded plastic multi-piece visor with holes in it.
The injected molded visor has three things going for it. The visor holes for visibility when down (in a very small angle), it cleans easier, and doesn't sag (like cast or cut foam sun visors do over time).

Now, when you guys are talking about "90% of glasses fit in there fine" are you actually CLOSING the holder, or just letting it hang open with the glasses in it?
I dont have any nice glasses so I'm not taking pics, just some cheap ones from the stand in the mall. I have a 2.5 year old so I learned a while back I could not keep nice glasses. But my glasses are not big at all, yet they stand no chance of fitting in the holder with it closed.
I just wonder if you guys are putting your wire frame reading glasses in there and then closing it.

I think the poorest design in this car was the sun visor. Why on this earth would you design a sun visor (by definition sits in the sun) that has an adhesive that expands in higher temperatures and causes the visor to crack? I want to meet that guy and beat him with a stick!

Sunglass holder
Seems like the holder was a late afterthought. I have Oakley half jackets but they are a pain in the a$$ to fit. I usually just push the glasses up on my head rather than try to make them fit.

What genuis had the idea to incorporate a sunglass holder into the '8, but make it so small in volume that only women's thin frame reading glasses could fit? 
I recently acquired my first '8 and today I cleaned it up and went to put some of my stuff in it, and found that my (fairly thin/small) glasses wouldn't come close to fitting. Makes me wonder why they even bothered.
By the way, the difference between the rx7club and this forum is startling. General tech posts on the 7 club refer to "how to turbo my n/a rx7", "engine overheating", and "engine won't start". Items being bought and sold are engine internals, turbo kits, and standalone computers.
Here, the general tech posts are more along the lines of "rx8 makes a funny noise while driving" or "how fast does your '8 get to 140mph". The WTB/FS posts are about navigation add-ons, body kits and trim, wheels and catbacks. You guys do not know how easy you have it. lol.

My issue is not that my sunglasses don't fit, but that the door/tray rattles when I'm going 17-18 mph. Veryyy irritating noise. Does anyone else have that issue and/or know how to fix it? Thinking of putting rubber into the mating points but it doesn't really have any other than the clip :D

As a long time RX7 owner I can say that this RX8 is the first Rotary car I have owned that came with a factory warranty in place and is eligible for an extended one. (Which I took advantage of 5 yrs and 60K miles added on)
So while my RX7 is heavily modded, stand along computer etc.. the RX8 is staying very close to stock but will get played with, driven as intended and enjoyed.
I feel in another 5 years the early 8's will start to become the new 7's. The majority of your RX7 owners these days are enthusiasts who are into rotary powered cars.
The 8 is not there yet, there are still a lot of owners that "just like the looks" or the handling, while they are car guys / gals, they are not the same as the hard core enthusiasts mentioned above.
I just picked my RX8 up a few weeks ago and I am really enjoying it. Good luck with yours. Good to see some more RX7 guys jumping over to the 8's.

I want to say we have a mutual friend, just damned if I can remember who. I want to say John Helgesen a Porsche friend of mine.
As a long time RX7 owner I can say that this RX8 is the first Rotary car I have owned that came with a factory warranty in place and is eligible for an extended one. (Which I took advantage of 5 yrs and 60K miles added on)
So while my RX7 is heavily modded, stand along computer etc.. the RX8 is staying very close to stock but will get played with, driven as intended and enjoyed.
I feel in another 5 years the early 8's will start to become the new 7's. The majority of your RX7 owners these days are enthusiasts who are into rotary powered cars.
The 8 is not there yet, there are still a lot of owners that "just like the looks" or the handling, while they are car guys / gals, they are not the same as the hard core enthusiasts mentioned above.
