I went of my first road trip with the 3 yesterday, and I am seriously in love with this car now. I didn't take the interstate, so most of my cruising was at 60-65 MPH. But I always got up to speed as quickly as possible, so I wouldn't call it all easy driving, since I had to get through a good few stoplights.
I loved the final numbers I got. 243 miles, 8.6 gallons gas, 28 MPG.
My best friend, who has a pair of 2002 Protege's (one he bought for himself, and one he bought for his mom) really loved the car. He was extremely impressed with the build quality, and the Alcantara+leather seats. I took him for a quick spin, which was fun as hell. While we were going through the back roads he kept saying "the 2.3 is fast enough. I don't know why they would put a turbo on it." Then we got to Highway 58 and I opened it up. His eyes got big as soup bowls, he got that grin that only raw unadulterated torque can put on your face, and said "oh damn, this is nice. This is NICE." His final comment on the car was that it was everything he wishes his Protege had been.
Guess I'll go wash the dirt and dead bugs off her now. I want her nice and clean and shiny when I go see Transformers this morning. Actually I just another reason to drive her. Yippee!!!

sounds nice!
yeaah i almost envy my friends ms3 because of how fun it is to get up to speed. it is seriously quick! thats good that you've found something new. not a big fan of the fwd though, it defintely does drive a lot different than rwd. as much fun as it is to drive the ms3 the 8 just feels so much more rewarding, and more of a drivers car..
any ways enjoying this thread. its always nice to get a new car!
btw you should look into upgrading the rear motor mount. it makes a huge difference...especially in the shift feel. its a worthwhile mod thats real easy to install.

I finally had a chance to drive the MS3. Wow - what get up and go, especially up at freeway speeds. You could get into so much trouble with that car.
I have to say I like the feel and interior of the 8 better, but that engine pulls, the mileage is great and it is a practical car.
Also drove the new Fit, it was a very solid car. Could be even more fun with some choice mods.
Friend is looking for a new car possibly so tagging along.

its hard to adjust though. after driving the 8, many others cars just don't have that same road feel the way the 8 does. when getting a new car its just something to get used to..
