When you are really angry don't slam the trunk lid
Was really pissed off the other day, got lost and was late, hate getting lost and being late.
Anyway I had the trunk open and slammed the lid. The next day I see condensation inside the passenger's side taillight. Seems the corner of the lid punched a hole in the cover and cracked the **** out of it. So what was going to be window tinting is now going to be getting my taillight replaced (of course you can't just replace the cover on **** anymore).
So hopefully I learned my lesson and not be such a hot head or at least not to take it out on my beatuiful 8.
I share because I care, don't abuse your 8.

Yes, I understand.
But the big *** hole is the result of you not having the vinyl pad that Mazda issued to keep the tail light from cracking.

^I slip my finger in the crack. mmmmm . . . .
lol. Seriously, tho - right next to the tail light at the bottom corner, so I don't hit the paint of the trunk or the bumper.

I would say if they are going to charge you $350 for a new tail light get it somewhere else.

The dealer might still fix it under warranty, but not based on this TSB as newer cars (like your 2006) should already have the new weatherstrip and the protective "stickers".
