the wheels can't suck
doesn't look like anyone has said this yet:
for the love of god, please don't let those chrome 5 spoke wheels that reek of "bling bling" be on the production car!!

Bling Bling defined
Bling Bling is the "sound" that light makes when it reflects off of something shiny. It applies to gold and chrome rims, jewelry, etc. It's somewhat of a young urban euphemism that has been popularized by heavy usage in R&B music. The most popular bling bling references are about lots of gold and diamond jewelry to conspicuously display wealth, attract members of the opposite sex, or to flaunt your ghetto-fabulous lifestyle. The definition seems to have be somewhat extended to cover anything that is exceptionally eye catching such as tacky stickers on windshields and rear windows.
As far as the shiny wheels we’ve seen on the pre-production RX-8, I really like them. I like the five spokes, but I’d also happy with more very thin spokes. I don’t even have a problem with the chrome treatment, but it will look better on darker cars than lighter ones. That’s cool since I want a black or deep blue one. There is a point when it can be too much, but I don’t think the RX-8 crosses that line. The first time I saw the gold wheels on the Subaru STI, I thought they were over the top, but now they’ve grown on me. Different strokes for different folks though. I personally think that the darker anthracite and black rims look about like steel wheels without covers. Why pay big bucks for something that looks like a donut spare tire?

When they come out with concept pictures of a car they always have good wheels ..but when the car comes out..they put cheap wheels on it..I hope this is not the case with the RX-8

Yeah, I hope Mazda realizes that the people who are going to buy this car won't be interested in Bling-Blingin' down the street. Well, some will...but not most of us.
I'd like some Anthracite colored 5-spokes. Oh man...that would be sweet.

???????
Ghetto-fabulous? Let me assure you that having studied World War II and **** Germany that there is nothing at all fabulous about ghettos. Unless there is some kind of neo-**** movement going on around here I don't see how ghettos are even being brought up. Those places were horrible. If putting tons of Jewish people in glorified shanty-towns just to kill them is fabulous...
...well, thats just horrible.

me personally..
i'm partial to snowflake'y type wheels or really simple, clean wheels, like audi and sometimes VW have. think s4/s8.
either way, my only objection is to the chrome. i'm not trying to impress anyone by blinding them with the reflection off my "rims", i just want attractive but subtle wheels...

I'll be putting white rims on the car. I have a fascination with white rims.
DC - KayakDaddy was not reffering to the Ghettos during WWII - he was simply stating what urban youths mean when they 'bling bling' and how the individuals in the music industry portray themselves as being from the 'ghettos' of America with tons and tons of jewelry. Either way - he didn't mean anything neo **** or racist.
