But that's just me.
So you agree with me that it is relative. The definition of expensive ($300 per wheel) is a moving target.

Might sound lame but I think wheels say a lot about someone. It's kind of like a watch or shoes... These are just broad generalizations but often fit.

Konigs and Motegis: you like tacky and have some ricer in you
Axis: you kinda like dubs and value form over function
Rotas: you are kinda cheap and/or aspire to things you can't afford
Volks: you're a brand ***** that lacks originality
5-zigen: you're a bang for the buck kinda guy and like simple

etc. etc.

For what it's worth, show me some Torques next to a set of Emotions with no markings and I can tell you which one is the Rota and which one is the Work instantly.

Lemme guess, Ike? You like 5-zigens? You are right about rims being like watches or shoes though. In that, most will do the job--how you "express" your taste is what's germane...

well just because i have rotas doesnt mean i cant afford volks or doesnt mean im broke, im just being pracitcle if it cost less, looks good and works the same i mean why not?

so your saying a guy with a eg hatch with volks is automatically rich?

all rim makers you listed above are about at the same category except probably volks, rotas are no different from the others.

I said cheap, or fruggle if you prefer, not poor.

There's nothing wrong with Rotas (if you own a Subaru... J/K), for the money they're pretty well made and most of them are relatively light. But, put them side by side with the wheels they knock off and there is a difference in quality just from looking at them.

Ike has a point there.

Cheap is not the same as poor, One could be poor but not cheap, vice versa.

But you get what you paid for.

*starring at my Mazdaspeed Version II Wheels*

I think mine is worth it.

thats me!!it all comes down to preference. Would I go to target and spend $25 on a pair of shaq attack basketball shoes? Or should I spring some cash for those hard to get $150 Jordans?? It's all preference. If you have the flow to get something more expensive then why not? if u dont care for brand name and want the look than here's a cookie.

there are alot of people putting rotas on not just the subys gotta add evos and 350z, and if you think about it there are a lot of rims that look the same. so you cant really just point at rota and say there the only ones making knock offs, thats why i say there no different that any other brand, i just dont get why people act as if i commited a sin.

btw rota actually has really good quality.

the difference between rotas and ssr....

btw my spokes are more rounded due to the lower offsetts.

People who are willing to spend a lot on wheels either want to dress the car up or are serious about performance and racing. Or they just have sh*tloads of money.

The dress up people are usually looking for something bigger than stock (Rota doesn't make many 19" wheels, neither do most budget brands) and they are usually concerned with brand names also as they probably show their car (even if it's just to friends).

The race people usually don't care about diameter, but are more concerned with how the wheel is made, how light it is and how strong it is. This usually will lead them to a brand name.

By the way, I think your Rotas look great.

Uhhh, you're forgetting a few things. The SSR will weigh 3-4 lbs. less per wheel, and are semi forged. Again, I can guarantee you that if I them up close I can tell which is the knockoff and which is not. The quality of the finish is different. Your wheels are NOT just as good as the real thing no matter how you want to spin it.
