whats the point of buying expensive rims?
I'm gonna be honest. Those Rota's ACTUALLY look better than the wheel they knock-off, the SSR.
Maybe it's just because you have lug nuts that match the lip, but I dunno. They look "brighter" if that makes any sense. I WANT THEM!

Your wheels are NOT just as good as the real thing no matter how you want to spin it.
follow link to see weight.
and i never said it was better, i said for the price you cant go wrong. they still look the same and work the same, i mean how many people would actually come up to me and say aww thats fake it doesnt have that little spot like the real ones? i mean come on im not entering a car show. and yes i still do get alot of compliments even though there rotas.

just cause you have big named wheels doesnt make you better, or doesnt make your car look better. theres rims that are cheaper than the others that look better.

to each his own ...
wheels have a caste system, just like our society. it sucks, but it's there. period.
as for me, i prefer to have both form and function when it comes to wheels. i believe in certain brands. others, i'm not so confident in. i think spending $300 to $400 per wheel for the Rx-8 is okay, but i probably would not spend any more than that. if i had a Porsche, Audi, Ferrari, Lotus, etc. i'd probably spend up to $800.

It's like many things in life... Some people are willing to spend a lot more money to get something of higher quality or made from finer materials. For example, I wear very expensive jeans. Most people don't know the difference between what I wear and a pair of Levi's or mall chain store jeans. Those less expensive jeans work just as well as my jeans and not many people would really understand the difference between the denim, wash, and contruction of my jeans vs. the other jeans. But I notice, and I care, which is why I buy expensive demin.
It's also why I often buy higher end car parts for my car. Sure, a Megan part from ebay might have worked just as well and saved me some money, but I don't want Megan parts on my car.

i think if people like the car, it shouldnt have to matter what wheel brand it is,cause at the end its still a rx8, wheel brand aint going to change the car.
INstead of wasting $2000 on VOLKS....I can buy a nice SAMSUNG 60" Television from Circuit City with the stand for $1999.....plus its not worth it....the 3 seconds u stare at them before u get in ur car....and the 5 secs u walk away from ur car...
I agree with Ike! (can't believe I just said that)
Many of us are very critical of what we buy, what we wear, and what parts we put on our vehicles because some of us enjoy the finer things in life.
My girlfriend does not understand how I buy suits for $1,000 and not even bat an eye when there's a Men's Warehouse down the street that could sell me something for $400.
I know the difference, I know the quality of what I'm buying, and at the end of the day it's my money and I know I get what I pay for.
Now, if someone wants to compare car parts or even suits, I won't disrespect their choices but I will point out that they are not equal. Though they might APPEAR equal, they are in fact not.
That's not to say what they have is bad but there is something to be said about high quality items. It is in fact why they're called high quality.
The research, design, and construction of them is what sets them apart. It is not always about the looks. (this is especially true with wheels)
(yes, I realize this is an old thread but since it was bumped, I figured I'd add my $.02)

In the end people should be comfortable getting whatever makes THEM happy. It's a totally subjective viewpoint of what something is worth especially when it comes to brand names. That works for clothing like Jedi's suit example, and for wheels. I have never in my life been concerned about what brand name clothes I was wearing, and I do the same with my wheels... I wanted a particular style I really found I liked, and could either get the Piaa versions which only came in 19s (which I don't like) or the R1 Racing version which were less than half the cost and came in 18s. Guess which ones I have on my car?
I don't judge someone for spending the time and effort to find and buy a really nice set of wheels, but nice to me is pretty subjective. I've seen some REALLY expensive wheels that look like garbage, and some really cheap wheels that look amazing. Your mileage may vary.

Might sound lame but I think wheels say a lot about someone. It's kind of like a watch or shoes... These are just broad generalizations but often fit.
Konigs and Motegis: you like tacky and have some ricer in you
Axis: you kinda like dubs and value form over function
Rotas: you are kinda cheap and/or aspire to things you can't afford
Volks: you're a brand ***** that lacks originality
5-zigen: you're a bang for the buck kinda guy and like simple
etc. etc.
For what it's worth, show me some Torques next to a set of Emotions with no markings and I can tell you which one is the Rota and which one is the Work instantly.

enkei: you like nice things, but prefer to spend money on performance, not looks.
im such an enkei rpf-1 fanboi.
Spending large dollars for liteweight wheels if you are not going to race is a fkn waste, unless ya going for the ego trip.
We bought the wheels for cheap that look just like wheels costing 200 more each and look the same. jeez go for it.
Kinda like the ***** that buy a vette to drive to the grocery store or a cafe to look kool and never use it. what losers.
