What's a Fair Price to Have Tires Mounted & Balanced?
So I bought the BF Goodrich g-Force tires (225/45/18) on sale for $75 a piece from Tire Rack.
What's a fair price to have them mounted and balanced OTD? I called Discount Tire, which is ordinarily very reasonable, and they wanted $75. I was thinking something closer to $50 would be fair. Am I off base? |
Yep, off base if it's $50 total for 4 wheels. Got to tirerack.com and search for a local installer, then check their posted prices for comparisons.
|
my dealer did it for $12.50 a piece
|
out here in santa ana they do it for about 10$ a piece but you gotta know spanish
|
I paid something like $200 for no-touch mounting and road-force balancing at a specialty shop. I felt a little icky afterwards.
Worse, my bro-in-law can mount and balance for free. |
My speciality shop does it for $35.00 a wheel. Mounted and road force balanced. But they also do Lambo's and the such. I'm picky.
|
costco is $10 a piece; also any local shop you can sweet talk to $40 for the job
|
Sweet. Glad I asked.
I don't need any specialty shop prices. Why are some of you burning money like that? Crazy mofos. I'll check out Costco, tirerack.com's installer list and the dealer. I can't speak Spanish, lol. |
I think $60-70 for all 4 should be a fair price if they are Hunter Road Force balanced, taxes and fees included. They do seem to be rather low-profile tires, which are typically more expensive to mount.
A good balance is important if you don't want a lot of vibration on the highway. It's more complicated than just throwing the tires on. |
i paid $80 at the same place my brother paid $40.
...... and i actually DO speak spanish. |
i paid 18 a tire, they took their time in a good way, didnt scratch rims and what not...maybe caus i was watchin them! :P
...i paid 23 a tire....they stole 20 dollars from me, screw ntb. and now i have a dumb receipt that says congrats you paid this much for services at ntb. that won't help me get my money back. |
Well, Costco won't mount tires unless you buy them there.
I went to a tirerack.com recommended installer (called them) and got a price of $18 per tire. Anyone have any concerns about Wal-Mart? They will do everything - dismount, remount of new tires, balance with inside and outside weights (if required), using a Corgy (is that how it's spelled) instead of a Hunter, for $12 per tire, including valve stems and disposal. This is the best price so far. .. |
you mean beside the fact that they are a shitty company who treat their employees like crap and are effectively ruining small town businesses?

I guess I should pay the $80 with a clear conscience. But then the Wal-Mart employees may get laid off if more people do this. It's a quagmire, I tell ya'. |
i pay $80 to have the local dealership do it.

When I was getting ready to get my winters mounted & balanced, I checked at wal mart for pricing just for grins, and they informed me they wouldn't even touch low profile 18s. |
I do it myself! It's Free!
|
i paid 120 for mounting and balance with the tmps put in on my new rays
last place i went to i paid 80 and they screwed up big time, i rather not take the chance at costco or some other cheaper place with my nice wheels. its really a once in a while expense so get it done at a legit place id say |

I think rotorsport charged me 80 bucks for mount and balance, including a tire disposal fee. 15 to mount and balance, 5 to get rid of the old tire. |
$25 total at the dealer. But then again my dealer also is going to sponsor a track day for us.
