Because it has a rotary engine. It revs to 9k for a reason. Asking for it to drive like a piston engine makes no sense. If you want massive torque at 3k, go buy a muscle car with a V8.

The 8 is not the fastest car out there. But how many cars do you see on a given day that are faster? It's fast enough to have fun with, and that's what the 8 is about.

The 8 isn't about being the fastest car on the road, it's about feeling like you're driving a jet fighter while everyone else is in a prop plane. It's fun. If you aren't having fun, something is wrong.

i believe the latest bmws rev to 8750. at least the hartge 350i does.

I've grown so sick of people saying the 8 is underpowered! What other car on the road derives its power from a rotary? NONE, except the RX line. So, the car ISN'T underpowered. It's an over-achiever. We're cranking more power from a 1.3L engine than some cars with double the L's! The 8's NOT torquey. Deal with it! The thing is...it has torque and power galore, you just have to know where it's at in the powerband and how to harness it. Any monkey can get in a car and mash the pedal. Wow! Look at it go! That doesn't take skill. My 4 year-old nephew can do that! Okay, maybe not galore, but plenty enough to have fun. In the end, you can compare the 8 to the 350Z or whatever you want, but it will never be touched by these because they have something we don't...PISTONS! Rotary FTW, MF'ers!

yea, the whole RX8s are slow thing is getting really old.

SO old that I dont even argue my point anymore.

Its not slow, its slow in comparison to the 370Z, but its not slow.

Slow is a Celica, or a Sentra, or a tiburon.

Quick is an RX8, 350Z, 3 series, S2K.

Fast is Z06, Viper, F430, etc.

Low end torque is over rated anyway.

For people who complain about the power/torque, set your idle to 4k,

if you do that you now have low end power and only 5,000 RPMS just like you wanted.

Thanks for the support for the 8. It's plenty fast and it is amazing to get so much power out of so little capasity. Just dont park on Ice like I did at work today. I literally got stuck and had to put towels underneath the rear tires. Those Bridgestones are great on dry and rainy roads. They are terrible on snow and Ice. It took a good 10 minutes of spinning my tires to get out of that mess!!

The RX8 is quicker than 95% of the cars you will see in your daily commute. Not to mention it looks insanely better then them as well. What else matters?

It definetly looks better than any car in my opinion. I think it's funny when people say it's ugly.

I just laugh and tell them they are mad that their eyes smell like warm buffalo milk and it clouds their judgement. That shuts them up 100% of the time.

I think that the rx8 is a hate/love stock with looks. Not everyone likes the front with that 'snout'.

I think the RX8 with an authentic MS bodykit is absolutely beautiful, shoulda came outta the factory like that IMO

Yes it's different. But most people dont enjoy different. They want big and easy. Lot's of creature comforts. Well I like to handle the road better than 95% percent of the cars out there. I like to keep away fron the morons that drive on their cell phones. That makes a big difference to me. Especially tonight with all the idiots on the road for xmas. Seriously, people really can't drive or they are to busy doing something else to care.
