To me "realistically trade" is what I plan to trade my car in on. Not what I could trade it value for value.

Realistically? Nothing except another 8.

I would like an FD for tuning up and tracking, and a CX-7 for winter, but won't get rid of the 8 to get either one... and every other possible trade is either too heavy, too slow, too high insurance, too elevated (off the road), too ugly, too cramped, too uncomfortable, too cheap (interior), too ...

The 8 is JUST RIGHT.

The 8 has been my dream car for many years.
The 8 is still my dream car.
Every day.

The only other car i might have more fun driving is a Ferrari 360, but I will turn down an offer to own one.

I just dig the practical/playful aspect of the 8.
I get a lot of smiles when folks unexpectedly see me, then 2 kids climbing out of the car.

dynamoho, are you able to fit infant carseats in the back of your RX-8, or is it too tight back there? I can see a booster seat fitting without much problem, but I'm worried about needing to fit a baby in the back some day. Maybe I'll just reserve the wife's CR-V for that purpose and leave the RX-8 to adults-only driving!

I test-drove one of these yesterday, and I started to really consider trading in my RX-8. It's also the only thing that's in the same price-range that I would consider trading for. Yes the RX-8 is a 4-seater, but it's not really a practical 4-seater. The MS3 has lots of passenger and hatch room but still drives, accelerates, and handles very well. In the end though I think there were too many "little things" that bugged me about the MS3 -- no digital speedo, exhaust note was a little loud/bassy, FWD torque steer, turbo kick, clutch felt "loose", high seating position...

It's good to be spoiled!!

MS3 is a cool little car, but FWD is a deal breaker for me. Regardless of how "sporty" the rest of the car is, FWD is not.

^^^^

The 2009 WRX now has 265hp, summer tires, stiffer springs, sways, slightly larger turbo, boxer rumble, and..... AWD.

I agree with superglue, I can't wait to test drive the new '09 wrx. Living in Canada and travelling to the mountains in the winter isn't even an option even with dynamite winter tires and sand bags in the trunk. All wheel drive and enough power and torque to overcome mechanical losses (to match/surpass rx8) looks great. Add to that a 50/50 wt distribution, centre locking diff, short throw tranny, updated spring/damper rates and a double-wishbone rear....2009 looks like it might be a good year...

Pry my rotary shaped shift **** from my cold, dead hands

But seriously I would consider a Alpina B3 Biturbo, a new Porsche 911 Carrera, or a 993 style turbo Porsche 911

But I crushed my hand under one of the munchkins while trying to click the seatbelt.

I'd trade straight across for a new GT-R, but hold out for the V-Spec variant.

Or an Ariel Atom V8

I would have to agree with Scuba Steve... A Porsche would be the only car I would trade my RX-8 in for.

Also carseats fit in an 8, I had a 1, 3, and 5 yr old when I purchased mine and they all fit with seats and boosters (even the rear facing infant seat)
