What would it take to sell your 8?
KBB retail value and it's yours. It's been a good run but I've owned it since 2004 and it's getting to the point where I have to wonder what might be wrong every time I go to start it. Having something better than a hockey puck in 1/8" of snow would be nice and something north of 20mpg wouldn't be too bad either.
I don't owe anything on it and it is still super fun to drive so it's still in the garage.

pretty serious.
It's garaged in winters. it's an `05 w/ 62k on it. Minus the 20% tint and piano black ball shift ****, Yellow Top optima batter and an HKS Ground wire kit given to me by a friend who does professional audio installs, the car is stock. the interior is immaculate and the exterior paint is fine for the year if not better than expected. Would i want more? Sure! Am i realistic though on price? yes.
my initial desires for the car are to give it to my daughter when she's 18. But then, she's only 2. So the car has to survive another 16 years. Will it be worth it? will we even be using petrol by then? Will the cost of petrol warrant keeping the car? will she want to pay for gas?
Long and short of it, yes if someone said here's $15k cash, i'd drive them to the DMV and get the title xferred that day, hand them the keys, kiss the car goodbye and wish them well. With that in mind, should someone reading this now be interested, i'd consider it.

I said the 787B, that's my minimum offer. I would take it in a heartbeat... I'd prefer that plus a few other things (60's Ford GT 40 race car before the J car chassis, Gumpert Apollo R, Sachs rotary go cart, and a WRX STI as a winter beater) and nobody would hear from me again

Since my 8 is probably the last BN car I'll buy, and I'm an old rotorhead with no new rotary model even on the horizon, it would take a ridiculously huge amount of cash to convince me to part with it.
And even then, I'd regret it. This car is too much fun.

JT's prediction:
"Niche Markets" will disappear, unless there's an outrageous price tag attached, and Mazda will never be able to get what Ferrari, Porsche, or Lamborghini gets for a car. At least in our lifetimes.
The 16X engine is on "perma-hold", awaiting good financial times that may never come.
I've got a bad feeling that the rotary engine is, effectively, dead. God help us all.
Glad I got my 8 when I did. (Former BN first-gen RX-7 owner)
Rumor. Especially if gas prices continue to climb.

This may actually be the last rotary for years to come, if ever. The answer is, ya can't afford it.
