Very stupid, but not entirely my fault....

While installing the bonnet stay dumpers, I didn't use the specified drill (with the length-limiter thingie), and on top of that it was a drill for wood, not metal so I had to use a lot of force to make the holes....

10 minutes later, two very noticeable dings on my hood where the drill hit it from the underside

Easy to fix though, but still VERY stupid.....

2nd day out I tried to throw the shifter in the same pattern, instinctively, as I did for the 323 - just as I was entering Hwy 101. Fortunately it only made a kind of jingle as I pulled it over to the side of the road and considered the possibility I had just ruined everything. Started her back up; engine and transmission ran fine. Turned out system very forgiving and I had simply thrown it into neutral - will never do that again!

Why thank you Rink ...nothing else really crazy in the 8 other than that its been babied....However last summer I crashed an MX-5 during a test drive....car salesman told me to see what it could do...so took off traction controls and let lose around a turn around off of a local highway ....did about 75...steering locked up ...car hit the curb on the turn around and litterally landed on its sided before turning sideways and skidding back onto a cross section that had a green light ((landed back on all fours)).....took a small hit to the rear driver side by a Mazda3 that was also on a test drive ..........

1. Raced a SRT-4 and got wasted
2. Raced my Bro's civic at the race track and feel's like my car is hurting from all those hard launches.
3. Hit my house after I was drinking.
4. Letting the fiance drive the car.
5. The list goes on.....

When I moved out here to Cali my higher ups at the time delayed when I was allowed to leave! The result was when I drove across country I was caught by the snow in Wyoming and spun out on the Interstate (even light snow and summer tires suck). I ended up in a ditch and didn't notice the damage. When I got to California I needed to get the road grime off the car and took it to get washed. After it came out the wash this plastic runner underneath was hanging. I thought the wash had did it but then realized what happened after further examination. The result is my rims on one side were a little scratched along with one of the appearance package parts and there was a dent underneath ($700 worth of damage). This was more than 1 1/2 years ago now and I haven't had any real mechanical problems to speak of!

SiLVeR, that's not bad for your car. She can handle much more than that!

I offered to let my friend drive it—he ground the gears twice going from 3rd to 4th or 4th to 3rd. And this after I patiently told him to take it easy with the gears, not to rush his shifts, not to manhandle the shifter and how with the RX-8 it's all about finesse. The car seems fine, though, and I'm sure, 10 years from now, I'll be able to look back at this and laugh.

Went to down shift to 4th gear from 6th gear to pass a few slower cars on the highway, already doing 75mph, missed 4th and went into 2nd!
Rpms shot up to redline, and the car jerked like i threw a parachute on. Quickly shifted into the proper gear and the car drove and shifted fine ever since.

Good work running down a squirrel. Those destructive little pests are hard to track down.

I would have to say I have a new worst thing from yesterday. Damn holiday traffic!! I was on my way into work yesterday and was nearly hit head-on. I was driving on a straight stretch of road that goes past a fire station. A little ways up is a curve but you can fully see everything around it since it is flat pasture on either side of the road and around the curve. A large truck goes around the curve too fast and starts veering off the road toward the ditch. He straightens out and starts going straight again. I saw that he was driving stupidly so I slowed down and got got as far to hte outside of my lane as I can. Well, as we are getting closer to each other he starts veering straight at me again, so I just lay on my horn in case he was looking away for some reason so he would notice and correct himself. The car behind me starting honking as well as the cars that were behind him. I've now slowed down to about 15 MPH and pulled as far off the road as I can (hardly any shoulder, goes straight down into a ditch). I was sure he was going to hit me. At the last minutes he swerves back into his lane and just barely missed me by what looked like inches as he went past. I managed to get back onto the road from the shoulder (which my tires had started to sink into and my car slide). At this point my tire light came on and the car started beeping, so I thought I had messed up one of my wheels/tires on the passenger side. I was also hearing this chirping/scraping/grinding sound. I was sure something had to be wrong with my car. Instead of continuing on around the corner and into town I went straight onto a side road and pulled into the parking lot of the school there. I I turned off my car and got out to look and see if there was anything obviously wrong. I couldn't find any damage on my car (scratches, scrapes, anything dented or broken, et cetera). I saw that my wheels had a lot of dirt and debris from the shoulder in them and on the brakes so I got the paper towels out of my trunk and cleaned them off. I turned the car back on and the tire light was off and the car had stopped beeping. I started driving really slowly and after a few feet that awful grinding sound stopped. I figure it must have been dirt and stuff had gotten into my wheels and on my brakes. I turned around to try to continue on to work and everything has seemed fine since with my and the alignment seems to be good. I'm going to have them check it out on Friday, though, when I go in for a new set of spark plugs. Mazda sent a letter to my dealership to tell them it was time to do a full inspection of my car and all its components and replace my spark plugs (only had my 06 for a little over three months).

I had spent about 10 minutes checking out my car before I started driving again. A few minutes after I started driving again an ambulance went flying past me followed shortly by two police cars. On my way home from work I see the same truck that nearly hit me was off the road into a ditch and had hit a pole. I don't know if the guy was drunk or if he had some sort of problem with his truck but he was off the road on the same side he kept veering toward when he almost got me. Fortunately, it didn't look like he had hit anybody else.

I outran a security staff person (not a cop) in my 8. My action suprised me because I am usually an avid law-abiding citizen. Here is my story and rationale:

As you might know, I am trying to decide whether I should buy MS shocks/springs or RB springs/tokico shocks to go along with my RB sways. So I decided to do a little hands-on research at a local twisty private road that leads to a construction site. Usually no one is on this road at night, so I go there around 10pm and begin driving briskly around the turns, braking and accelerating suddenly to gauge the reaction of the shocks. On the way I see a white unmarked truck in the distance, so I slow down and pass him as if I was just lost (ha). I reached the construction site, so I made a U-turn and drove the other way. All of a sudden I see the same white truck coming toward me, and it makes a U-turn in front of me. When I passed the truck, it turned on a single rotating red flashing light and began tailing me. So at this point, there is a heavy *** truck behind me, a dark, fun, twisty road ahead of me, and a nervous me sitting at the helm of my window-tinted, nav-up, Revi-intake, RB sway fitted RX-8. What do you think I decided to do next? I gun it down the road at 80mph, and to my surprise this truck is really trying to follow me! So I flew through the turns at slightly uncomfortable speeds and left the truck further and further behind. I reached the public roads and made some random turns into a residential area to make sure I wasn't followed. After calming down a bit, I decided I was hungry so I went to Wendy's and got some 99 cent chicken nuggets and went home.

ARgghggh, not my fault, but today while coming home on the highway at night I heard this loud "TUNK" against lower right side of my car. I dunno what it was or what it did, because I can't see any body damage. But it scared me, and worried me.

Opened my driver's side door 180 degrees in the garage. Forgot the car was in gear (reverse) from the night before. I had backed it up cause I went to far in the garage. When I started the car next day (I never park it in gear), I just remembered I forgot somthing opened the door and started to get out. The car shot backwards and the door got caught and opened all the way to the other side. Thank goodness for insurance and more important thank goodness I didn't lose my leg.
