What is the production date of the first RX-8's sold in USA?

 

Mine was built 6 June 2003 and delivered 15 July 2003. I know some were built in May.
My vin ends in 29xx

 

May 2003 Bulid vin LOWER than 1500, I think mine was one of the first batch for sale??

 

May 03 here with a vin in the 600s

 

may 03 is the earliest US build. April 03 was all Japan

 

Mine is May 03, and the VIN is in the 800's. According to the paperwork it was first deliverd in August of 2003 to the original owner..

 

700s and may '03

 

May 27, 2003. Came in on the first boat to the East Coast. Picked it up on July 17, 03

 

My build date is May 2003. I can't seem to find out the exact date. How can I find this out?
My VIN is 1604. I took delivery 7/15/03. I think I was 3rd in LA.

 

The only way I know my build date down to the day was because I was one of the pre-orders. While we were waiting for them to ship from Japan one of the RX8Club members had access to an internal Mazda web site that allowed him to get up-to-date information about any RX8 based on VIN. Mazda had sent an email to each pre-order which included the VIN so I was able to get my info. It was very exciting waiting for the 8 to show up. But it was also frustrating because it actually arrived in the States (NJ for me) in June of 2003 but it was held at the doc for a number of weeks (I believe it was due some emissions problem).

 

I would appreciate any other info on determining my prod. date. If you have references back to the member who contacted Mazda, please pass it on.

TDS, ask your dealer for a print out of the waranty information. When I bought my car (used) they did just that, and on the sheet was the original build date, and original delivery date. (Delivery date is important since thats when the warranty period starts!)

 

Bump old thread, do we still have early build 8's alive? Mine is June 2003

 

Zoom44 has one of the first sent to the States. Mine is a Sept 03 build.

 

I wonder who bought the first rx8 in the states? Just a curiosity...

 

I also have a june 03 model vin 103100100332, I'm in Australia though.
