Has 16" wheels and no sunroof : base
Has 18" wheels and no sunroof: sport
Has 18" wheels, sunroof, and cloth interior : Touring
has 18"wheels, sunroof, and leather interior : Grand Touring

There are other aspects to each trim level, but these will identify which one he has.

Only the base AT came with 16" wheels.
The Base 6spd had halogen lights and no DSC/TC.
Sport had DSC/TC and Xenon lights

So if a sport has a sunroof does that make it a touring?

I have an 04 Sport model. It has no sunroof.
If you have a sunroof and cloth seats, it's a Touring model.

If it has a sunroof, it will be Touring or Grand Touring. Depends on the interior being cloth or leather.

How about showing us some pictures of the exterior and interior, and we can tell you what it is?

These are the OEM rims for a base AT without the sport suspension.

16's looks small for the rx8, from my perspective.

its difficult to learn when you dont read anything and are too busy posting the same response in every single thread that will increase your post count.

I got a question. What does the MAZDASPEED Rx8 come with and which trim is it based off of? Like does to come with everything a Grand touring one comes with?

No such thing as a mazdaspeed 8. Any model (whether top spec or bog standard auto 4port) can come with mazdaspeed parts as extras when bought from a dealer brand new

Technically there was, sort of, in Canada. But really it was just a dealer made model.

But it was all fluff and no substance. And the "mazdaspeed" wheels narrower than stock Sport wheels, 18 x 7 IIRC.

So there was never a MAZDASPEED rx8? So they just had extras that can be added on like the MAZDASPEED bumper and MAZDASPEED stunt bars? I thought they came with a slightly tuned?

Nah there was never a full blown mazdaspeed rx8 (except for what 9k is describing)

My car was sold new with a few mazdaspeed goodies (flywheel and other random things). Just extra things you could choose when bought new.

They weren't tuned (if you mean ecu tuning)

Yeah, we have a local guy who bought his RX-8 new (for close to $50,000.00 IIRC, I remember seeing it on the showroom floor when I bought mine) back in 04' and it has almost every single Mazdaspeed part an accessory (body kit, spoiler, CF interiors pieces, coilovers, flywheel, clutch, strut bars, MS catback, and even the rare Magnesium Mazdaspeed wheels) and the dealer he bought it from (same dealer as me) I think advertised it as a Mazdaspeed RX-8. In his case I thought it was appropriate since it had every part in the catalog. I have never seen another one like it in person.

His interior is even custom, even the knee pad

But back in the day when mine was stock I was running faster 1/4 mile times at our local drag strip

I can't zoom in on the picture enough but those are actually the magnesium wheels? Not the aluminum ones that look the same?

That is what I was told, I have no clue if they actually are or not but he is not the lying type. He never drives it anymore (never really did ever since he had a truck), he has a Camaro or some **** now.

They should have had big *** stickers that said MAG on one of the spokes and then been stamped as well.

Well maybe they are not then because I don't recall a MAG decal, just the Mazdaspeed and the Rays raised lettering.
