what to look for

Ok here is a question for current RX8 owners and some of the RG's out there. I am looking to buy a used RX8. Now I have dealt with used Turbo cars and all the horror stories there. My main question is about the rotorary engine. Do I have to worry about it since it is used and all that? Is there anything specific I should pay attention to. I am looking at 05 RX8 6spd with 22k mi on it, for about 22.500. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't worry, just make sure the owner followed the factory recommended service schedule and topped off the oil regularly. 05s should have plenty of warranty left, so you should be ok. BTW, where are you located?

I am in northen ohio. This is the car that I am currently looking at. Also what is the warranty, cause I can find a 04 for about 18.

Ok, the original 05 is gone, but this one is in its place. It only has 11k on it.

22.5K seems to be a little high for the car. Might just be the OH market...

I'd have to say that if you really have the choice, try and stay 05 and above. Not that 04's are any more prone to problems, but with all the TSB's that were done on 05/06 at the factory when they were made, it just seems that the 04 (being the first year) had a few more issues.

Personal opinion, take it for face value. Put it this way...im in NW Ohio, and I bought an 05 BRAND NEW in may of this this year for $25,700/ GT/6M. I'd say that $22K for an 05 with high 20K would be a hair high.

at that, don't take carfax to be your own personal car bible either. I bought a 97 Cobra that had a gorgeous record, but ended up needing a new transmission shortly after buying it. Married 50's owned it and put 800 miles on it in 2 years. Little did i know that he tossed the keys to his nephews every weekend.

The abusive driver can be just a detrimental, if not MORE at times than an accident or just highway miles.

Make sure you trust the people you are buying from. If something seems fishy or snowed over, walk...right away. It usually is.
