What did you do with your RX8 today?
the reason conventional is the overwhelming favorite with rotaries is because it used to be frowned on, so theres that stigma, and the cost.
(*figure if synthetic is often good for upwards of 10k adding 1qt/1000mi depending on brand and sales, it could cost you $70-90+ per oil change.)
I would be hesitant to do this. the wiring is meant for a ceartain amperage and intentionally exceeding it can be dangerous. realistically a 5amp bump isnt likely to cause issues, but considering you suspect a short, i would advise against it. best bet is to find the short.
Sad short story:
Tuesday:
Took the car to Aamco to check/fix a leak in one of the transmission seals (the one that's made entirely of RTV) that was slowly dripping onto the exhaust and causing the most lovely burning oil smell. No big deal really.
Wednesday:
Got word back that when they pulled open the transmission to fix it, a chunk of obliterated bearing fell out. It had just been silently tearing up crap in there...
Well, hopefully I'll get a new 4th gear synchro..........

the radiator sprung a leak the other day, so i spent saturday changing it. i'm glad i did too, the old radiator was really brittle, it was like a dry cheddar. or i should say i'm glad it just started leaking a little instead of just failing catastrophically
Filled up full-tank, drove until I clocked at 194,000 miles on the freeway... Then I got a flashing CEL and all kinds of CEL:
P0300 - Random misfire detected
P0302 - Rear rotor misfire detected
P0171 - System too lean
P0456 - EVAP system leak detected (very small leak)
Starting with the coils because the plugs and the wires are only about 300 miles.

Installed my Exotic Speed R-II T Exhaust. Sounds mean with bhr midpipe..
On the saturday.. Im plannig on taking out the Throttle body, upper intake manifold and entire intake and clean them all up. Why? no reason to be honest just thought it may help my car perfomr better in case there is any carbon or oil gunked up in there. I kno the intake box is filled with oil and gunk.
Also, if time permits I will paint the callipers Candy Blue

Finally got around to making the hole in the pass-thru cover for my sub to fire through. Contrary to most of my projects, I couldn't be happier. I still have some things to do to finish it. I'm going to put a speaker mesh in over the hole, with speaker fabric over the mesh. My goal is to have something that could be mistaken for stock.

Put my BHR midpipe back on.
Put new rotors & pads on all 4 wheels.
Painted rotor hubs & calipers. Primered the rotors with flat black BBQ paint, then several coats of Duplicolor Caliper gloss black paint. Very happy with the results. Really makes the wheels look sharper.

, and I think I got a full set of synchros/bearings (did I mention it took twice the time it should have?).They did all the removal/install work, but I was told that they had to ship the transmission itself somewhere else (probably a Mazda shop) to get it repaired.
Finished installation of custom oil cooler lines (modeled after the Racing Beat set but plain black hose). Also replaced spark plugs and wires. Although it isn't very technically difficult, it was a beast of a job mechanically to replace all the lines (especially the one running under the A/C compressor).
built my sub box with hidden compartment for my oils and supplies.

Highway driven miles with A/C on the max in 95+ deg. temp outside and inconsistent freeway speeds. This is the first time I've reached this much mileage in one fill up. Ignition system were just newly replaced this month, Cat-converter is almost at 86,000 miles, and fuel pump is slowly failing(I felt it on a few up hills I went through and the car went limp but car started again after 2-4 minutes on the side of the road). Unknown compression number.
