It looks like the demographics for the 8 are clustering at age 26 and at age 51. I fall into the latter group and hope to have one in the fall. If all goes well I'll be zoomin' with the aarp group.

My first new car was my '01 Jeep - got it when I was 29.
My 30th birtdhay came with some mid-life crisis issues and I ended up with the red car in my signature.
Then the rx8 was an unexpected 31st birthday present to myself - didn't really intend to get one, I was just going to have a look and I just couldn't resist.
There are some advantages to being 31 and single, but there are also some disadvantages too...
Next thing on the list is a house, and with any luck I should have that one put to bed by the end of the week.
Debt, here I come!

HEY Llathos -
Congrats Man !!!!!!! I'm so happy that you did it.
I figured that you were nervous about pulling the trigger on the car, but I can tell you that it's nerve wracking buying any car when you're that age no matter what the car is. I bought my first new car when I was 24. It was a Nissan Maxima, and my hand shook so much that I could hardly write the check. However, driving the 8 I am sure will make it all worth while for you . I'm glad that you did it, and remember . . . don't flood it (just kidding). Enjoy that car!

24 too
Yup, im 24 too and getting an 8, hmm whats up with that guys?? I guess the 8 must be a 24 year old male magnet or something.. well no complaints here.
Other options would be, 350Z (but roomate already has one), or bmw m coupe(hatchback)...
yeah, we'll see.. maybe you all can sell me on the 8

My soon to be Ex-wife always hated the fact that I had "impractical" cars, so she will probably sh*t when she finds out I got an RX-8. My new girlfriend loves it!
Mid-life crisis, huh?

Thanks for the well-wishes Haze
I'm still mortified I'm going to flood the damn thing in my first week and totally disenchant myself with the 8.
I just want everything to be ok

It will be since you are way more aware of the potential issues than other owners. Just be sure that you avoid snow on the stock tires. I do understand your nerves though, and remember that you have a warranty . Have fun with the car, and break it in right. The engine was very tight on mine when I bought it.

Speaking of AARP, I drove like a certified member on the way to work today.
I got my car last night.....so I'm fresh with that "new baby driver's syndrome" where you freak out when people drive aggressively around you.
God I love this car.....soo smooth.

WHAT, drving the car to work???? I thought you were going to keep it safely tucked away at home, away from the parking garage???
Hard to resist driving it, isn't it? My employess don't know about mine yet so on nice afternoons I take an extended lunch break, and go home, get it and just drive until its time to go home. Being the boss has its perks

I couldn't HELP it!! It looked to beautiful in my driveway...and I don't have a garage at home, so it's actually probably safer at work as far as exposure....
and ....
I just couldn't do it. I moved my cars last night too so I could take my old car in, but this morning....I couldn't do it.
I'm a sucker for my 8.

Don't forget Uncle Sam.
Our glorious over-father the tax-man will label him as "rich" and take 40-60% of what he earns because he doesn't deserve it, remember?
Oh crap, I got on my soapbox. <shuffling it aside> My bad.

Sorry to say this but every time I go out to my car at the grocery store or where ever it seems like there are a couple of guys checkin' it out. But it's the winks that their girlfriends give that tells the real story .

27yo. Got my 8 back in November after months of talking myself into it. Didn't want to spend the money but now glad i did. What am amazing vehicle. Never had RWD before and it absolutely sucks in the snow but small price to pay for easily the best car I have been in. Amazed at how smooth it rides.

Yes, the summer performance tires suck in the snow. However, with winter tires, this car handles extremely well in the snow, ice, cold, etc.
