Well I did it.

I traded in my 8 today. Well I guess it becomes official on Sunday. I am going to miss this car more than any other. It just isn't practical for me anymore. Now i'm just going to blend in with the crowd. Just wanted to say thanks for all the help. This is a great site and should be required for all 8 owners. Soon I will have all my parts for sale, but first I got to take everything off.

On the bright side I got a pretty decent trade in price. I got $16500 for my 04 GT w/ 38k. I think the sales manager is going to buy it. He told me about 5 times how beautiful my 8 was. Im getting a pearl white 04 g35x. I need the all wheel drive.

little money you save on gas will be spent on tires. why isn't it practical anymore?
an engine that has less moving parts is supposedly lower to maintain.

that trade in price is unbelievable!! Most people don't get that selling it outright. You are very lucky. Chalk it up cause that will most likely never happen again.

G35's AWD is a joke.

You'll know what I mean later.

Anyway, good luck

So far Nissan has not had to open a facility dedicated to rebuilding that engine.... unlike Mazda.

That COULDN'T Possibly be because regular technicians are afraid to learn about the engine, thus shun it....

I will be back in a rotary as soon as I can afford to have a nice daily driver and can afford a sports car on the side.

So basically my decision is based on recent experiences. About 2 months ago a young man crashed in my front lawn, struck a tree and passed away. My family went down to help as soon as we heard the accident, and by the time we got there he was already dead. And about 3 weeks ago my cousin and great friend (and 2 people in the car passed away including a 7 year old child) due to a freak accident. Both accidents were caused by the weather and now i've seen first hand how something like this can tear apart a family. I know awd really doesn't mean a whole lot, but anything I can do to decrease the chances seems beneficial to me. I live in NY and the weather has been nuts this year. Sheets of ice seem to be everywhere. I can't even make it up my driveway somedays (my 8 has blizzaks too.)

On a lesser note I also need more room as I am constantly shopping for my business.

I already see the comments. Get back on the horse man, you can't let something like that change your life. I know this is true, and im not saying i will live out the rest of my life with this attitude. Right now this is the right move for me.

As far as the G35 being a joke, you couldn't be more wrong. Car is decently fast very well built and reliable as can be. Go read the Road and track long term test. It is what it is, a nicely built sedan. I never claimed it was the end all be all.

Sucks that these things have happened in your life, but you are right, you'll get better...

Good luck in your travels, sir.

hope things get better for you bro.

Mine was not very practical anymore either. I was paying almost 500 a month on a car that i wasn't driving. When i say not driving, I mean I put less than 100 miles on the car a month. If the car would have been paid for the story would have been very different.

Why not a Mazdaspeed 6 ??? Or a cx-7 / 9 ???

Why go over to the dark side.

I only drive Mazda. Period. Thats how much respect I have for them..... Well I may someday try a Porsche If I have the cash

Honestly I could never see myself in any other mazda other then a rotary. And yes I did go to the dark side, but I honestly love all cars. Im not loyal to any one brand. Pretty much stripped everything off the car today except for the exhaust and wheels. Soon for sale I will have.

-TurboXS exhaust
-RP high flow (still at RP getting a brand new cat welded in)
-Black leather shift boot with red stiching
-Rotary Rasps LED's
-Carbon fiber side vents
-OEM front rotary accent
-Silver kevlar carbon rear rotary accent
-Red triangular carbon fiber insert for inside the rear accent
-Racing Beat Intake
-Racing beat AC screen
-Racing beat oil screens
-Black front OEM splash guards
-Clear corners
-Zeta arm rest cushion
-about 11 quarts of Idemitsu pre-mix
-Kosei gunmetal 17 inch rims with blizzaks

Possibly for sale
-White (more like xenon blue) LED interior light set
-Scangauge II
-Hoen xenon match high beam bulbs
-Hoen xenon match fog bulbs
-Royal purple max gear transmission fluid

All items have been on the car for a year max. Somethings I did buy used which I will indicate when I post properly in the for sale section. Just wanted to give all you guys following this thread a first peak. Please dont PM me calling dibs just yet.

gl with the new car - i'm sure you'll enjoy it. there are always going to be people who jump on here and knock the choice you made, almost like we have to justify to ourselves that we're making the right choice by sticking with our 8s over another car. personally, i use mine as a DD in CT and have no problem but i also have no problem with someone choosing a G35 over it. the G35s are nice and have some nice power behind them. enjoy it and i'm sure you'll be back

AWD is good for TRACTION, but however it won't stop the vehicle any quicker!!!
